On the afternoonof June 3, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology held a videoconference on the relocation and transformation of hazardous chemicals in HubeiProvince and the promotion of the shutdown, reform, relocation and transformationwork of the chemical enterprises along the Yangtze River. The reporter learnedfrom the parallel session in Jingzhou that Jingzhou Municipality, as anadvanced model, addressed the conference. Up to now, the work for 36enterprises has been completed, beyond the goal by additional 11 enterprises.

Implementing the"shutdown, reform, relocation and transformation" of chemical enterprisesalong the Yangtze River is the primary battle of the ten iconic battles for theprotection of the Yangtze River. Since the work initiated in 2018, Jingzhou hassorted out 76 enterprises in this kind, of which 18 are hazardous chemicalproduction enterprises and 11 are in the 1 km-cluster along the River. By theend of 2019, the city completed the work for 36 enterprises, presenting abetter result with additional 11 enterprises. During the process, a projectinvestment of 2.978 billion yuan is completed.

It is reportedthat this year, the work for another 23 enterprises will be completed, of which17 will be relocated, 3 will be transformed on the original site, and 3 will beshutdown. The total investment of the project is expected to reach 7.727billion yuan.
