“No. 1 Yangtze River Flood in 2020” Formed: Water Level 41.46 Meters in Shashi Section

At 10:00 on July2, the inflow of the Yangtze River Three Gorges Reservoir reached 50,000 cubicmeters per second. And the No. 1 Yangtze River Flood in 2020 formed in theupper reaches of the Yangtze River. In view of the current flood situation inthe Yangtze River Basin, in accordance with the provisions of the Preparation Plan for Flood and DroughtDisasters in the Yangtze River Basin (Trial), the Changjiang WaterResources Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources decided to initiate thelevel IV emergency response to flood and drought disasters in the Yangtze Riverfrom 11:00 on July 2.

The reporterlearned from the Ching River Hydrology and Water Resources Survey Bureau of theHydrology Bureau, the Changjiang Water Resources Commission of the Ministry ofWater Resources that at 2 am on July 3, the Yangtze River water level of themonitoring section of Shashi reached 41.46 meters with a flow rate of 34,900cubic meters per second. As of 16:00 this afternoon, the water level hasdropped to 41.37 meters with a flow rate of 33,600 cubic meters per second. Fromlate February to early June this year, the water level of the Shashi sectionhas remained below 35 meters. Since the beginning of the rainy season, due tothe rain in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River such as Tuojiang,Jialingjiang, Wujiang and Three Gorges dam area as well as the local rain, thewater level of the Ching River section rises rapidly.
