A source with the Politics and Law Commission of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee said on July 14 Hubei has recently fixed the list of pilot areas formunicipal social governance modernization. The list included 13 cities and prefectures into the national pilot practice in two groups, and 3 cities directly administered by the province and Shennongjia Forest Region into the provincial pilot practice.

According to the work arrangement of the Politics and Law Commission ofthe CPC Central Committee, upon approval by the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee,the Politics and Law Commission of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee spearheaded the formulation of the Programfor the Pilot Work of Municipal Social Governance Modernization in Hubei Province and the Guide for Regional Characteristic Work in Hubei Province, and started the pilot work of municipal social governance modernization in Hubei in late April 2020.

The pilot work of municipal social governance modernization in Hubei will be launched in full swing, advanced as a whole and accepted by phase. 13 citiesand prefectures, 3 cities directly administered by the province and Shennongjia Forestry District will be involved this year. As the first group of national pilotareas, 7 cities, including Wuhan, Yichang, Xiangyang, Jingmen, Huangshi, Shiyanand Huanggang, will carry out the pilot practice from 2020 to 2022; as the second group of national pilot areas, 6 cities and prefectures, including Jingzhou,Ezhou, Xiaogan, Xianning, Suizhou and Enshi, will carry out the pilot practice from 2023 to 2025; as provincial pilot areas, 3 cities directly administered by the province, including Xiantao, Tianmen and Qianjiang, and ShennongjiaForestry District, will carry out the pilot practice from 2020 to 2025. Areas maturein pilot practices will be accepted and awarded. Areas qualified in nationalpilot practice acceptance will be awarded the title of "City Qualified inthe National Pilot Practice of Municipal Social Governance Modernization"by the Politics and Law Commission of the CPC Central Committee with a notice of commendation circulated; areas qualified in provincial pilot practice acceptance will be awarded the title of "City Qualified in the ProvincialPilot Practice of Municipal Social Governance Modernization" with a notice of commendation circulated.

Wei Yueming, Deputy Secretary of the Politics and Law Commission of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee, required that all areas in Hubei should strictly implement the work requirements of the Politics and Law Commission of the CPC Central Committee and the arrangements of Hubei's Pilot Work Plan, advance pilot practices steadily, further improvethe mechanism of municipal social governance, renovate methods of social governance,and keep improving cities' capability of resolving major conflicts and copingwith major risks, to ensure the fulfillment of expected targets.
