Two Roads in Downtown Jingzhou Open to Traffic After Completion of Rainwater-Sewage Diversion
Updated: 2020-09-11 11:14:40

On September 8, the reporter saw Bibo Road and Yuanlin East Road in downtown Jingzhou, two roads closed for over two months due to rainwater-sewage diversion, have been open to traffic with the completion of the project.

As part of the sewage source control and interception works of the comprehensive water treatment project in downtown Jingzhou, the rainwater-sewage diversion project of the roads commenced on June 25 and July 1 respectively. By constructing new rainwaterand sewage pipelines, the project will thoroughly accomplish rain-sewage diversion, to avoid domestic sewage discharge into rivers via rainwater pipelines, thus effectively improving the water quality of rivers.

While improving the quality of rivers, the project is of great significance to alleviating the waterlogging of this area. According to Shu Wenhao, a project manager of Jingjiang Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. (Jingjiang Environmental) under Jingzhou Urban Development Holding Group Co., Ltd., the roads' original pipelines were deficient due to their limited sewage discharge capacity. The two new 460-meter sewage pipelines can effectively improve the capacity of the sewage pipe network in this section, improve upstream and downstream sewage discharge and alleviate the problem of sewage overflow in rainstorm weather.

25 days of rainstorms heavily affected the project soon after its commencement in July. Particularly, the water of the Jiangjin Lake nearby overflowed Bibo Road. The constructors onthe site have focused on drainage for nearly one month.

Despite all the hardships, the project was completed as scheduled. To restore the roads to trafficas early as possible,, Jingjiang Environmental duly adjusted its construction plan after the flood situation improved slightly, and worked extra shifts and hours, thus completing the project as scheduled.
