Jingzhou's tourism rejuvenates with over 40 million tourists received in 2020

With "cultural inheritance and tourism development" as the important content of "four-wheel drive and two-flank support", the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and the Jingzhou Municipal People's Government have promoted the high-quality development of cultural tourism in recent years. In 2020, Jingzhou overcame the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak and vigorously implemented the "recovery project" to rejuvenate the tourism market.

The sudden Covid-19 outbreak hit Jingzhou's cultural tourism hard in early 2020. After achieving staged results in epidemic prevention and control, Jingzhou's tourism areas introduced a series of events in early April to attract tourists. Jingzhou also launched "Tourist Benefiting Month", and went all out to promote the recovery of cultural tourism through thanksgiving feedback, benefits offered by tourism areas, rewards and subsidies for travel agencies and tourism areas, and other measures. In the critical period for the post-epidemic recovery of cultural tourism, the "Jianghan Tourism Alliance" was established in Jingzhou on May 19 to facilitate tourism resource sharing, mutual brand promotion, market interaction, tourist exchange, technology connection and benefit sharing by Jingzhou, Jingmen, Xiantao, Tianmen and Qianjiang.

To meet citizens' travel needs after the epidemic, Jingzhou launched 30 one & two-day rural tourism lines during the "May Day" holiday. On May 22, the Jingzhou Rural Tourism Conference took place in Jingzhou District. The "Balingshan-Mashan-Chuandian" rural tourism circle boosted weekend leisure & holiday tourism in downtown Jingzhou. Tonglinggang Vegetable Theme Park received 300,000 tourists in 2020, up 300 percent from 2021. By creating renowned cultural tourism towns and villages, and constructing rural tourism manors, pastoral complexes and fine farmhouses, Jingzhou has advanced the creation of fine and characteristic rural tourism areas and the standardization of rural tourism services.

To accelerate the recovery of Hubei's tourism after the epidemic, Jingzhou launched "Free Tours in Hubei with Love and Joy of Jingzhou" along with other cities in the province on August 8. 17 A-class tourism areas and 1 non-A-class tourism area were involved, including Jingzhou Ancient City Historical and Cultural Tourism Area, King Chu King's Mausoleum and Jingzhou Garden Expo Park, which are open for free to the whole country. According to data released by the unified reservation platform established by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Hubei Province, Jingzhou's 21 tourism areas received 2.405792 million tourists as of December 20, 2020. The event conveyed Jingzhou's gratitude to "angels in white", reshaped the safety image of Jingzhou, activated Jingzhou's tourism market, solved enterprises' difficulties and expanded domestic consumption, to achieve significant results.

此外,为适应疫后“限量、预约、错峰”旅游新要求,我市与携程集团合作建设荆州智慧旅游项目,按照“1+2+N”模式重点建设“一中心两平台”,即文旅大数据中心和智慧文旅管理平台、码上游荆州平台,9月28日上线试运行。

To meet the new tourism requirements of "limited number, reservation and off-peak travel" after the epidemic, Jingzhou partnered with C-trip to develop "one center and two platforms" (Jingzhou Cultural Tourism Big Data Center, Jingzhou Smart Cultural Tourism Management Platform, "Scan to Travel" Jingzhou Platform) under the model of "1+2+N", and launched them for trial operation on September 28.

与此同时,荆州各大景区还拓展夜游产品和项目,荆州东门景区宾阳楼光影秀、护城河画舫夜游,吸引大批游客夜游荆州古城;荆州方特推出丰富多彩的演艺节目和夜场烟花秀等项目;荆州园博园组织“夏日荧光跑”,策划避暑纳凉节和烧烤露营、乘船夜游、民谣音乐表演等夜游活动。夜游经济不仅让荆州的夜晚焕发更加迷人的光彩,也逐渐成为重振旅游市场的重要引擎。初步统计,预计2020年全年荆州市接待游客4017万人次,恢复到去年的80%。

In the meantime, Jingzhou's key tourism areas developed night tours. The light & shadow show on Binyang Tower of Jingzhou Ancient City (East Gate) and the night tour of painted pleasure boats across the moat attracted flocks of tourists to travel Jingzhou Ancient City at night; Jingzhou Fantawild presented a variety of art shows, night firework shows and other events; Jingzhou Garden Expo Park organized a "summer night run", and presented night tour events like Summer Cooling Festival, barbecue & camping, night tour by boat and folk music show. The night tour economy which enchants the charm of Jingzhou's night is gradually becoming an important driver for the rejuvenation of Jingzhou's tourism market. According to preliminary statistics, Jingzhou is expected to receive 40.17 million tourists in 2020, accounting for 80 percent of tourists received in 2019.

当前,荆州市正认真谋划“十四五”荆州文旅业发展规划,致力打造中国楚文化旅游目的地、长江国际黄金旅游带文旅消费集聚区、荆楚文化发展示范区,促进荆州文化旅游可持续发展。

Now Jingzhou is working on the "fourteenth five-year" plan for cultural tourism development, with the aim of developing into a Chu culture tourism destination in China, a cultural tourism consumption agglomeration in the Yangtze River International Golden Tourism Belt and a Jingchu culture development demonstration zone, and promoting the sustainable development of Jingzhou's cultural tourism.
