On the morning of March 9, members of Jingzhou's four leading bodies, including He Guangzhong, Secretary of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee; Zhou Zhihong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of the Jingzhou Municipal People's Government; Duan Changlin, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Jingzhou Municipal People's Congress; Wang Shouwei, Chairman of the CPPCC Jingzhou Municipal Committee; and Wu Chaoan, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee led over 100 government functionaries to Changhu Cherry Blossom Valley, Ji'nan Eco-Culture & Tourism Area for voluntary tree planting, to consolidate the outcomes of forest city creation and promote the green development of Jingzhou by action.

Upon arrival at the tree planting area, He and other municipal leaders took up tools to plant trees. Though the early spring was cold, they were in high spirits. In threes and fives, they worked in collaboration, taking on a bustling scene. Over 1,000 well-spaced and upright ginkgo trees and cherry trees emerged in a few hours, adding a tint of green to Jingzhou in its early spring.

Among the participants were leaders of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee, the Standing Committee of the Jingzhou Municipal People's Congress, the Jingzhou Municipal People's Government, the CPPCC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and the Jingzhou Military Sub-command, as well as officials and staff of the Jingzhou Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning and Ji'nan Eco-Culture & Tourism Area.

In 2020, Jingzhou completed 300,000 mu of artificial afforestation, 50,600 mu of rural greening and 63,000 mu of afforestation on both sides of the Yangtze River, built 2 provincial forest cities, 8 forest towns, 20 model green rural areas and 13 forest villages, and reclaimed 6,500 mu of wasteland in a targeted manner. This year Jingzhou plans to complete 127,300 mu of artificial afforestation and 14,800 mu of rural greening, and build 138 forest villages. Jingzhou will also break walls to expose green in 33 sites and construct 31 pocket parks. Now all counties, cities and districts are performing their tasks of afforestation in full swing according to plans.
