Updated: 2021-03-29 10:33:33

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC. People's Daily has recently released a recommendation list of 100 red tourism areas. Jingzhou has two scenic spots on the list: the former sites of Honghu Western Hunan-Hubei Revolutionary Base Area and Western Hunan-Hubei Soviet Area Cemetery of Revolutionary Martyrs. To meet the Qingming Festival holiday, the Jingzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism (JMBCT) has launched red tourism lines.

Both red scenic spots on the list are in Honghu. The former sites of Honghu Western Hunan-Hubei Revolutionary Base Area in Qujiawan Ancient Street were the capital of Honghu Western Hunan-Hubei Revolutionary Base Area created by old revolutionaries such as He Long, Zhou Yiqun and Duan Dechang, which is dubbed as a "museum without walls" with 39 well-preserved revolutionary sites. With an area of 40 hectares, Western Hunan-Hubei Soviet Area Cemetery of Revolutionary Martyrs in downtown Honghu features 9 key structures, including the full-length bronze statute of Marshal He Long, Western Hunan-Hubei Soviet Area Monument of Revolutionary Martyrs, Tombs of the Red Army and Western Hunan-Hubei Soviet Area Revolutionary Museum, which demonstrates the history of Western Hunan-Hubei Soviet Area in the period of Agrarian Revolutionary War and is a red tourism attraction integrating cultural landscape and natural landscape.

To promote red culture, JMBCT has launched a series of red tourism lines featuring the two listed scenic spots based on Jingzhou's red tourism resources. Among these lines are two one-day lines: tourists can visit the former sites of Western Hunan-Hubei Revolutionary Base Area in Qujiawan, enjoy a farm feast at Laoyucun Restaurant, and then head to Honghu Eco-Tourism Area to make a tour around the island by boat and watch Red Guards on Honghu Lake; alternatively, tourists can visit Western Hunan-Hubei Soviet Area Cemetery of Revolutionary Martyrs first, then view flowers at Jinwan Flower Sea Tourism Area, then go on board a boat at Honghu Tourism Port to enjoy the scenery of Hubei's largest lake, and make a tour of Yuexi Peninsula International Hot Spring Resort at last. The two-day lines include visiting Honghu Tourism Port and Honghu Eco-Tourism Area, tasting Honghu clear water crayfish and other authentic Honghu dishes at Laoyucun Restaurant, visiting the former sites of Western Hunan-Hubei Revolutionary Base Area in Qujiawan, eating Honghu's characteristic snacks in Honghu Dragon Street, staying at Yuexi Peninsula International Hot Spring Resort for a night and having hot spring baths, visiting Western Hunan-Hubei Soviet Area Cemetery of Revolutionary Martyrs and making a tour of Jinwan Flower Sea Tourism Area the next day.(Reporter Wu Dan)
