Maximum daily vaccination capacity of 80,000 doses: Jingzhou accelerates massive vaccination against COVID-19

Key groups in Jingzhou, including medical staff, have taken active part in COVID-19 vaccination at the national call. As the enthusiasm about vaccination keeps growing, Jingzhou is advancing massive vaccination in an accelerated manner. How to accelerate vaccination efficiently in the face of the tight schedule, heavy task and high requirements? How to make vaccination more convenient, considerate, orderly and safe? Jingzhou conducted planning, made preparation and set up vaccination points early, coordinated manpower and material resources, improved point setup and made all-out efforts to ensure the implementation of the vaccination work.

Scene: "We are in favor of vaccination which benefits ourselves and others!"

At 9 a.m. on April 9, over 100 residents were queuing up at the entrance to Zhongshan Road Community Health Service Center, Shashi District.

Guided by medical staff, residents entered the waiting & registration area in groups by number, received contraindication checks and signed informed consents. In the vaccination area, "Please keep the injection site dry after the injection…" medical staff injected vaccine fluid slowly into recipients' upper arms, asking them to wait in the observation area. The observation area provides emergency equipment and drugs such as simple respirators and multi-function monitors. 3 emergency medical technicians from the Second Hospital of Jingzhou were stationed here. Recipients could leave after no adverse reactions occurred within 30 minutes. The site was in good order.

"We came upon receipt of a community notice, it is really convenient to get vaccinated on our doorstep," said resident Mr. Liu who got vaccinated under the organization of the community, adding, "We are in favor of vaccination which benefits ourselves and others!"

Point setup: 156 fixed vaccination points in operation across the city

Facilities are complete and signs are clear in all areas, including the registration area, the inquiry area, the vaccination area and the observation. The new mobile vaccination point of the Second Hospital of Jingzhou is fully open. While providing regular vaccination and medical services, the hospital's medical staff involved worked extra hours to ensure that the completion of the vaccination work as scheduled.

According to statistics released by the Jingzhou Municipal Health Commission, the total number of fixed COVID-19 vaccination clinics increased to 156 as of April 9, and Jingzhou has released the list of vaccinated entities to facilitate timely vaccination by residents at points nearby. At the same time, counties, districts and county-level cities need to set up new temporary vaccination points and may provide door-to-door vaccination service to entities that have large numbers of employees and meet conditions, to address the last-mile problem of the vaccination work. The maximum daily vaccination capacity of Jingzhou has reached 60,000 to 80,000 doses. It is suggested that residents intending to get vaccinated should register their information at their communities which then organize registered residents for vaccination at designated points. Residents may also directly contact local vaccination clinics to make appointment for vaccination.

Support: No serious adverse reactions reported in Jingzhou

After undertaking medical rescue at health centers and community COVID-19 vaccination points in Cenhe Town, Guanyindang Town, Luochang Town, Guanju Town, Shengli Sub-district and Jiefang Sub-district in Shashi District, the First Hospital of Jingzhou designated 21 capable medical staff members to provide safe, timely and effective medical support at these points.

To assure residents of vaccination safety, Jingzhou worked out a plan for the monitoring and emergency disposal of adverse reactions, organized medical institutions at or above the second level, vaccination units and temporary vaccination points to establish green channels for medical rescue, and optimized the service process of vaccination points to ensure the safety and orderliness of rescue.

To date no serious adverse reactions have been reported yet. According to a head of the Jingzhou Disease Control Center, COVID-19 vaccines are subject to unified purchase, settlement and allocation by the province. As required, Jingzhou has established a system for the full-process safety management of vaccines from receipt, storage, supply, distraction to use, expanded the capacity of vaccine distribution, had eight vehicles standing by for the cold-chain transportation of vaccines, distributed vaccines within two hours upon warehousing and ensured that vaccines are delivered to vaccination clinics at the earliest possible time to meet the people's need.
