Running for accelerated development of culture & tourism: 2021 "Beautiful Jingzhou" Songzi Weishui Cross Country Race

Run for the charm of Weishui. On the morning of April 18, 2021 "Beautiful Jingzhou" Songzi Weishui Cross Country Race kicked off along the beautiful Weishui Lake, bringing together 1,100 runners from around the country to experience the charm of Weishui and the development of all-for-one tourism driven by culture-tourism integration in Songzi.

Sun Yuqiu, Vice Mayor of the Jingzhou Municipal People's Government; Wu Chuanbiao, Vice President of Hubei Culture & Tourism Investment Group Co., Ltd., as well as Songzi's municipal leaders including Huang Xianglong, Cao Xiaoheng, Wang Hong, Su Chaohui, Yang Feng and She Jinhua attended the event and presented awards to winners.

A drizzle did not dampen the runners' enthusiasm. At 9 a.m., the participants got off the mark as the starting pistol fired. Cheers resounded through the sky and all were immersed in a sea of joy. Groups of runners, like brilliant pearls dotted along the beautiful and charming Weishui Lake, crossed imposing Weishui Dam, towering Jiulinggang Uprising Monument and verdant Zhangmuxi Village, to reach the destination-General Yan Cave.

The event includes a cross country race (16.6km), a mini race (6.6km) and a mini team race (6.6km). Huang ran in front in the mini race to promote the fitness-for-all program and the beautiful scenery of Songzi.

The participants enjoyed the joy of free run. Wang Kangmao finished first clocking 57:35 in the men's cross country race, Ma Ting finished first clocking 1:06:51 in the women's cross country race and "Invincible Fighter" Team came in first clocking 31:11 in the mini team race.

Wang Kangmao, the winner in the men's cross country race from Wuhan, said, "The track and the scenery are good, and I'm happy."

In a course around the lake, the participants passed Weishui Dam, Jiulinggang Uprising Monument, Zhangmuxi Village known as a beautiful Chinese leisure village and other attractions before reaching the destination-General Yan Cave. The event was streamed live to better demonstrate Songzi's all-for-one tourism resources, attracting nearly 100,000 viewers.

According to a head of the Songzi Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, as a national 4A scenic spot, a national forest park, a national wetland park and a national water scenic spot, Weishui Scenic Area has been named a "National Sports Leisure Town" and a "Characteristic Chinese Town".
