Jingzhou Shashi Airport achieves record passenger throughput during May Day Holiday

Jingzhou Shashi Airport achieved a record passenger throughput during the May Day holiday. The airport registered a passenger throughput of 10,504, 76 flight departures and arrivals, an average passenger load factor of over 95 percent and a maximum daily passenger throughput of 2,020 from April 30 to May 5, marking the second passenger peak after the Spring Festival travel rush since the airport went into operation.

Data show two passenger peaks of the airport around the May Day holiday, with the first from April 30 to May 1 when the number of tourists and family visitors peaked and the second from May 4 to 5 when the number of returnees peaked. The first peak saw a daily maximum of 1,051 arrivals and 969 departures; while the second 1,000 and 1,107 respectively. The airport registered 4,433 arrivals and 4,393 departures from May 1 to 5, and saw a daily maximum of 2,020 arrivals & departures on May 1. There were 12 flights with a passenger load factor of 100 percent during the May Day holiday, marking the first time that fully-loaded flights have been dispatched in large numbers since the airport went into operation. The key cities of arrival are Guangzhou and Shenzhen; and the key cities of departure are Shenzhen and Xi'an. 

To provide service support during the May Day holiday, the airport established a work leading group and made a support plan; conducted work safety checks and drills, and enhanced the sense of safety responsibility; strictly implemented epidemic control measures and strengthened in-terminal supervision to create a healthy environment for tourists; cared for special tourists, provided personalized services, and sent nearly 20 more volunteers in red hats or vests to serve passengers; paid special attention to airport traffic control and order maintenance before the terminal, predicted traffic congestions and worked out emergency measures.
