June 5 is the World Environmental Protection Day. Jingzhou Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau and Jingzhou Radio and Television Station held the event themed Jingzhou June 5 World Environment Day in Linjiangxian Park. 80 representatives from the Jingzhou Ecological Environment Bureau and voluntary environmental protection organizations aroused the awareness of the whole society to attach importance to environmental protection, stimulated the public's enthusiasm for the environmental protection, and vigorously created a good atmosphere for the whole society to pay attention to, support and participate in environmental protection through poetry recitations, singing and dancing performances, and reading of the proposal "Harmonious Co-existence between Human and Nature".
People see the beauty of Jingjiang River. Down the Jingjiang River, the green ecological corridors of the Yangtze River, such as Linjiangxian Park, Wanshou Park, Jingjiang Garden, Wangjiang Garden, and Wenxing Garden, make the Mother River green and beautiful. Too many beautiful things that anyone walking around the corridors simply cannot take them all in.
Over the past five years, Jingzhou has actively responded to the people’s eager expectations for environmental improvement, resolutely fought the battle for pollution prevention and control, the ten iconic battles for the protection of the Yangtze River, and implemented a series of “tough” measures for environmental protection inspection and rectification. To protect the blue sky, Jingzhou took multi-pronged approaches to manage and control air pollution sources; to protect the clear water, Jingzhou took multiple measures to boost the protection of the Yangtze River, promote the standardized discharge of corporate wastewater, and treat black and odorous water; to protect the clean land, Jingzhou made concerted efforts according to the law to comprehensively test soil, remediate ditches, treat waste, and promote soil environmental restoration.
The direct discharge of some domestic sewage in the central urban area is one of the problems reported by the Central Environmental Protection Inspection Team. Jingzhou insisted on systematic management of the entire link of "investigation, supplementation, collection, and processing". Now, the scenario of "fishes swim in shallow and clear water by green shores" is beginning to appear. "Bad smell" is one of the prominent environmental problems that the masses repeatedly complained and reflected strongly. With the help of environmental protection inspection, Jingzhou promoted the resolution of a number of prominent ecological and environmental problems, implemented 24-hour monitoring of the entire process of pollution production, control, and discharge of key pollutant discharging units, imposed punishments on 572 illegal enterprises, investigated and dealt with 446 illegal acts in accordance with the Environmental Protection Law and its four supporting measures, which effectively cracked down and deterred enterprises’ illegal discharge of pollutants.
As a national demonstration zone for taking over relocated industries, Jingzhou regarded its resource carrying capacity and ecological environment capacity as an important basis for taking over relocated industries, strictly abided by requirements for market access, and eliminated outdated production capacity. Under the guidance of the high-quality development, Jingzhou continued to improve the carrying capacity of the ecological environment. Midea Smart Home Appliance Industrial Park Project, Nine Dragons Paper (Hubei) Project, Hualu Hengsheng Modern Coal Chemical Base Project, Shanying Huazhong Paper Industry Park Project and a batch of major projects with an investment of more than RMB 10 billion, have been implemented successively, reinvigorating Jingzhou's post-epidemic recovery and green development, and helping Jingzhou to become a well-established demonstration zone for taking over relocated industries.
With the obvious improvement of the ecological environment, the blue sky, clear water and clean land have become the "new normal". National Sanitary City, National Forest City, National Model Greening City, National Water-saving City and other honors of "National Brand" are coming one after another; six counties and cities have successfully established provincial forest cities, and the forest city group has become a model for the plains and lakes of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and is unique in Hubei. Surrounded by green mountains and rivers, a more beautiful and more valuable new Jingzhou is moving forward in pursuit of dreams.
