The State Council released the 5th national representative intangible cultural heritage list on June 10. Jingzhou's two intangible cultural heritage items--lantern dance and Chu bamboo slip making are on the list.

The list has 185 entries and 140 extended entries, which fall into 10 categories: folk literature, traditional music, traditional dances, traditional dramas, folk arts, traditional sports, recreation & acrobatics, traditional fine arts, traditional skills, traditional medicine and folk customs. The traditional dances category includes lantern dance; and the traditional skills category includes Chu bamboo slip making.

According to statistics released by the Jingzhou Municipal Center of Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection, now Jingzhou has 11 national, 42 provincial and 108 municipal intangible cultural heritage items; 7 representative successors to national intangible cultural heritage, 52 representative successors to provincial intangible cultural heritage and 128 representatives successors to municipal intangible cultural heritage; 1 national demonstrative base for productive preservation of intangible cultural heritage, 2 provincial demonstrative bases for productive preservation of intangible cultural heritage, 1 intangible cultural heritage research center at a university/research institute, and 1 traditional craft workstation.
