Recently the General Office of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and the General Office of the Jingzhou Municipal People's Government have jointly released the notice on Division of Responsibilities among Chiefs of Key Industry Chains in Jingzhou. According to the notice, Jingzhou will establish a chain chief system with focus on "6+1" key industry chains, to coordinate the development of the industry chains and expand industrial clusters.
With Midea Refrigerator as basis, Jingzhou will extend the industry chain, promote the agglomerative development of the industry and keep expanding the intelligent home appliance industry cluster.
At Jingzhou Economic & Technological Development Zone, Midea Refrigerator Jingzhou Industrial Park with an area of 500 mu is under construction. This large intelligent refrigerator manufacturing base integrating the functions of manufacture, warehousing & logistics and life & leisure will increase the production capacity by 5 million units, generate revenues of 10 billion yuan and create 2,000 jobs annually.
The park planned and constructed according to the standards of world-class lighthouse factories will make full use of Midea's software and hardware technologies such as industrial Internet and robot automation, to improve production efficiency and product quality, and upgrade Midea's products from traditional single door refrigerators to 5G-powered high-end refrigerators, thereby constantly promoting the intelligent, green and high-end development of Midea.
Industrial leaders boost industrial agglomeration. Jingzhou Xinyi Industry & Trade Co., Ltd., only 3 kilometers away from the park, supplies 60 percent of plastic products to Midea Refrigerator. Over the six years, the number of the company's employees has increased from over 70 in 2014 to nearly 400 and its annual output has soared from 30 million yuan to nearly 100 million yuan.
To keep pace with Midea and support its "lighthouse factory" project, Jingzhou Xinyi Industry & Trade Co., Ltd. has expanded production, added land and deployed more equipment.
Since the entry of Midea into Jingzhou, a refrigeration product supply and distribution network has taken shape rapidly within a range of 100 kilometers, Midea has basically realized the localization of refrigerator parts, and over 40 parts manufacturers have grown strong because of Midea and created nearly 10,000 jobs. Meanwhile, with the construction of the park, Jingzhou Economic & Technological Development Zone (JETDZ) has kept extending its industry chain by building Midea Washing Machine Parts Industry Park, which has brought in 18 suppliers and will attract 50 more in the future. JETDZ will further coordinate with renowned home appliances manufacturers like Gree, Haier and Jing Group, introduce branded air conditioner and home appliances projects, extend and strengthen the industry chain, so as to constantly expand the intelligent home appliances industry cluster.
As of June 2021, there were nearly 60 intelligent home appliances manufacturers and parts manufacturers above the designated size in Jingzhou, with a total output value of over 10 billion yuan. At the next stage, Jingzhou will focus on improving the layout of the intelligent home appliances industry chain. With the existing industry layout as the basis, JETDZ as the subject, Shashi District, Jingzhou District and Jiangling County as the support, Jingzhou will place emphasis on steel plates, compressors, refrigeration parts, sheet metal parts and other parts, further consolidate superior industry chains, and strive to realize the full coverage of four fields-refrigerator, washing machine, air conditioner and home appliances, bring in over 100 suppliers and achieve an industrial output value of 100 billion yuan by the end of the "fourteenth five-year" period.
