In recent years, Jingzhou has pressed ahead the strategy of "industry-based development", followed the path of industrial development, kept strengthening its pillar industries, replaced old growth drivers with new ones in an accelerated manner, and significantly strengthened the basis for sustainable growth of industry, so as to lay a solid foundation for a good start in the "fourteenth five-year" period.

At the cornerstone laying ceremony of Midea Washing Machine Jingzhou Industrial Park on March 18, 2021, the first 18 matching enterprises moved into Jingzhou. On May 24, 2021, Jingzhou signed agreements with another 12 enterprises matching Midea Washing Machine and Midea Refrigerator. After long-term development and accumulation, Jingzhou has gradually formed six key industries: equipment manufacturing, food processing, light industry & building materials, chemical & pharmaceuticals, textile & apparel and electronic information.

The Development Plan of Jingzhou's Six Leading Industrial Sectors rolled out in September 2017, which clearly pointed out the current situation and existing problems of Jingzhou's leading industries, made clear the goal of future development, and provided a feasible scheme and implementation path.

Equipment manufacturing has grown big and strong. The automotive parts industry cluster represented by Henglong, Valeo, American Standard, Shendian and Hubei Axle has leveraged the long industry chain and complete range of Jingzhou's automotive parts, to develop new energy vehicles, special vehicles and other vehicles.

Light industry enterprises and building materials enterprises formed strong partnerships. With the collaborative development of paper enterprises like Shanying, Nine Dragons and Rongcheng, a packaging paper city in Central China and a renowned domestic high-grade packaging paper production base with an annual output of 12 million tons has taken initial shape.

The chemical & pharmaceuticals industry has grown out of nothing. A number of advantageous industry clusters such as Green and Recycling Industry Park in Jingzhou Economic & Technological Development Zone (JETDZ), Gong'an Qingji Chemical Industry Park, Shishou Dye & Dye Intermediate Industry Cluster and Shashi Pharmaceutical & Chemical Industry Cluster have gradually emerged. A biopharmaceutical and health preservation industry chain based on enterprises like Nenter, Halfsky Pharmacy and Changjiang Pharmaceutical is taking shape in an accelerated manner.

The electronic information industry has become sophisticated. Jingzhou has seized opportunities from national strategies such as "5G Application" and "Made in China 2025" to become Hubei's first prefecture-level city to see the commercialization of 5G, and Midea Hubei has established Jingzhou's first 5G-powered intelligent plant.

The food processing and textile & apparel industries have grown steadily while accelerating structural adjustment and improving the supply structure according to the Plan.

Technology innovation is the key to replacing old growth drivers. The CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and the Jingzhou Municipal People's Government have taken "innovation-driven development" as a new driver for corporate transformation, promoted the listing of enterprises like Feilihua and W-Olf Photoelectric, and boosted the transformation of enterprises like Jujing Transmission and Mingde Technology.

Jingzhou's industrial economy has shown a strong momentum

JETDZ was included into the second list of featured industry bases under the Torch Program in 2020 by the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center, Ministry of Science & Technology, and named "National Automotive and Automotive Parts Industry Base of Jingzhou Economic & Technological Development Zone under the Torch Program". With more than 200 automotive parts manufacturers to date, Jingzhou is an area with the most complete and advanced automotive parts in Hubei apart from Wuhan.

These years, based on the features of the industry clusters, Jingzhou has brought in Shanying Paper, Nine Dragons Paper and Kimou (Central China) Surface Circular Economy Industry Park, to inject new driving forces for industry chains to grow big and strong

These years Jingzhou has fostered 22 provincial sci-tech giant enterprises such as Joinhand Construction Machinery, Color Root and Gaobo Technology, and 97 provincial hidden champion enterprises such as Yuxing Environmental Protection and W-Olf Photoelectric. Jianghan Fine Chemical, SJ and SJS have been selected as national individual champion demonstration enterprises; Color Root and Deyongsheng have been named specialized, refined, distinctive and innovative giant enterprises. 

Under the strategy of "industry-driven development", Jingzhou is continuing to bolster its industrial foundation, and striving to foster 1,800 enterprises above the designated size, achieve a gross industrial output value of 500 billion yuan and rank top in Hubei in terms of manufacturing development level by 2025.
