On the morning of July 17, the Inaugural Ceremony of Shashi Yangmatou Historical & Cultural Block Patriotic Education Base and Jingzhou Municipal Construction Group Co., Ltd. (JMCG) took place at Shashi Yangmatou Cultural & Creative Park. Liu Huiping, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee; and Huang Zhen, Vice Mayor of the Jingzhou Municipal People's Government attended the ceremony.

Shashi Yangmatou Historical & Cultural Block is a highlight in the plan of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and the Jingzhou Municipal People's Government to build "Jingzhou Landscape Belt", Liu said. In recent years, JMCG has implemented the concept of "promoting well-coordinated environmental conservation and avoiding excessive development", advanced cultural inheritance and industrial development in coordination, to realize the intrinsic unity of economic benefit, social benefit and ecological benefit.

Liu called efforts to further reveal the social benefit of the block as a patriotic education base, strengthen the restoration, preservation and use of historical and cultural buildings, optimize the display layout, add items for display, and carry out patriotic education activities in various forms, so as to lay a solid foundation for creating a provincial patriotic education base in Hubei as early as possible. JMCG should implement a number of fine projects and model projects, to develop into a top construction group with value creativity, core competitiveness and innovation vitality, and make greater contributions to Jingzhou to transform, overtake, accelerate rejuvenation and paint a new scroll.

With a history of a century, Shashi Yangmatou has witnessed the tremendous changes of Shashi. It was a place where imperialist powers oppressed and exploited the people in Shashi, as well as an outpost where the people struggled against imperialism. Since 2018, guided by the cultural concept of "Ancient Commercial Port, Dynamic New Parlor" and the philosophy of "restoring the old to what they were, turning rust belts into beautiful ones", JMCG has renovated and reshaped the historical and cultural buildings in Shashi Yangmatou, to display the historical charm of this place and enhance the recognition of the history. In February 2020, the Hubei Provincial People's Government designated Shashi Yangmatou Historical & Cultural Block as one of the first provincial historical and cultural blocks, to fully recognize and respect its historical and cultural value. Since opening on April 25, 2021, the protection of the block, as well as the preservation and use of old industrial sites in the block have drawn wide attention from all walks of life and central and provincial media outlets. Through dissemination by new media like WeChat and Douyin, Yangmatou has become an Internet-famous attraction. Upon approval by the Publicity Department of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee, Yangmatou has recently been named a patriotic education base in Jingzhou.
