On the afternoon of August 3, Guan Chenchen from Jingzhou won China's 32nd gold at the Tokyo Olympics with a score of 14.633 in the balance beam final. In the following day, the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and the Jingzhou Municipal People's Government extended warm congratulations to the Chinese gymnastics team and Guan.

Guan's performance was stunning. She posted the highest score 14.933 in the qualifications on July 25 and qualified first for the final. In the final, she overcame U.S. veteran Simone Biles and Sunisa Lee, the all-around champion at the Tokyo Olympics, to win with the most difficult routine, securing the gold and the sliver with her teammate Tang Xijing.
