The Jingzhou Public Health Center is Hubei's first large public health project, as well as China's first large general and epidemic control hospital to break ground after the COVID-19 outbreak. Since starting last year, the project has progressed in full swing. Now it is almost completed.

On the construction site in Tianhu Road, Guanju Town, Shashi District, workers were paving asphalt on the surface of the corridor. As asphalt pavers roared, hot asphalt was paved, producing a heat wave. Rubber-tired and steel-tired rollers shuttled back and forth to flatten the asphalt concrete pavement.

With a total floor area of 124,000 square meters, including an above ground floor area of 91,000 square meters, the Jingzhou Public Health Center consists of the outpatient building, the medical technology building, the southern and northern impatient buildings, the administrative building and the infectious disease building. The project is divided into three sections which have been advanced synchronously and rapidly.

According to Liu Hui, Deputy Manager and Safety Director of Jingzhou Public Health Center Project at China Railway Guangzhou Engineering Group Co., Ltd., the medical technology building and administrative building in Section 1, the outpatient building, the southern impatient building and the northern impatient building in Section 2, as well as the decoration and mechanical and electrical installation of the infectious disease building are basically completed and at the stage of equipment commissioning.

As Jingzhou's largest infectious disease treatment center, to keep patients and medical staff safe, the infectious disease building of the Jingzhou Public Health Center uses a negative pressure system in disinfection to ensure discharged air is up to standards. In yellow-toned wards, medical equipment belts and double-door enclosed interlocked delivery windows have been installed.

Center landscaping is almost completed, the interior decoration of the six single buildings is at the final stage, and equipment commissioning is under way.

To prevent and control the epidemic, the construction site is subject to closed management with only one entry & exit left for real name registration examination, temperature measurement and health code check, and records are kept. Checks are intensified to keep the construction site safe.

The Jingzhou Public Health Center is a grade A tertiary hospital with the functions of prevention, medical treatment, teaching, research and rehabilitation, as well as a medical health center in the Yangtze city cluster featuring health management, rehabilitation medicine, geriatric medicine and general medicine. Inspired by a soaring phoenix, the design symbolizes the eternal prosperity of Hubei.
