Updated: 2021-08-22 16:30:45

On August 19, Jianghan Canal Grand Bridge, as an important control project of the first-class along-river highway (Jingzhou-Libu section), opened a new chapter - the pouring for Block No.0 of the No.5 pier of the bridge was officially completed, laying a solid foundation for the follow-up basket-hanging construction.

At 10:00 a.m., when the reporter arrived at the construction site of Jianghan Canal Grand Bridge at Fujiatai in Libu Town, Jingzhou District, he saw that a large pump truck was pouring concrete for Block No.0 of the No.5 pier of the bridge. According to the construction requirements, the task of pouring concrete for 610 cubic meters must be completed at one time. The workers started at 4:30 in the early morning and it would take more than 17 hours to complete it. In order to ensure that everything would go smoothly, the project builder prepared a series of emergency plans in advance.

It is reported that Jianghan Canal Grand Bridge will cross Diding Highway and Jianghan Canal. In order to ensure the safety of pedestrians, drivers and boats under the bridge during construction, and that the water of the Canal remains unpolluted during construction, the construction party had worked out special plans before construction.

The first-class along-river highway (Jingzhou-Libu Section) starts from Yangjing Village, Libu Town, Jingzhou District, and ends at Provincial Highway 428, passing through Libu Town, Libu Village and Hehua Village to the east, crossing Jianghan Canal, ending at the intersection of West Ring Road and South Ring Road after the widening and reconstructing of Jingli Road, and connecting with the urban section of Jingjiang Avenue through West Ring Road. The total length is nearly 10 kilometers and the designed vehicle speed is 80 kilometers per hour.

“According to the plan, the bridge will be completed and open to traffic by the end of next year,” said Lv Fei, deputy chief engineer at the Managers Department of Jingzhou Construction & Maintenance Integration Project, China Railway 11 Bureau.
