During a survey on the ecological and environmental protection of downtown Jingzhou on August 24, Wu Jin, Secretary of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee, stressed that we should study and implement Xi Jinping's thought on eco-civilization, resolutely undertake the political responsibility of ecological and environmental protection, continue to protect the blue sky, rivers and soil from pollution, strictly advance the rectification of the problems reported in the great protection of the Yangtze River and the inspection on ecological and environmental protection, focus on addressing prominent problems which the public voiced strong concern over, and persist in ecological and environmental protection, so as to provide ecological and environmental support for regional center city building.

During the survey, Wu headed for the experimental section of the ecological restoration project of the northern moat, the site of the extension project (Phase II) of Caoshi Sewage Plant, the junction of Xigan Canal and Chihu Canal, Shujia Pump Station, Juntai Pharmaceuticals, the waterborne refueling station in Liulin Waterworks Secondary Conservation Area and other sites, to inspect the progress of the projects under construction, inquiring about key work including the great protection of the Yangtze River, the problems reported in the central and provincial inspection on ecological and environmental protection, problem correction and review.

Wu stressed that green is the bright base color of high-quality development. Departments at all levels should consciously ground themselves in the new development stage, apply the new development philosophy and integrate themselves into the new development pattern, comprehensively implement policies of ecological and environmental protection, enhance the sense of responsibility and urgency, address prominent ecological and environmental problems in an accelerated manner, make up ecological and environmental deficiencies, and immediately address problems transferred by superior departments, problems arising in law enforcement inspection and problems which the public has voiced strong concern over. Industrial enterprises should step up efforts to raise standards for clean discharge, strengthen IT-based online monitoring, dispose of dangerous waste, prevent and treat waste water and gas, establish and improve environmental protection systems, and stick to the bottom line of safety and environmental protection. We should keep optimizing the design of ecological restoration projects, duly address practical problems arising in projects, give due consideration to economic benefit and social benefit, value functions and intensify support, so as to make ecological restoration projects more practical, functional and sustainable.
