Jingzhou to collect, transport, dispose downtown kitchen waste in unified manner from December 31

The Seminar on the Unified Collection, Transport and Disposal of Kitchen Waste in Downtown Jingzhou was held on August 31. The seminar solicited the attendees' opinions and suggestions on the unified collection, transport and disposal of kitchen and human waste, explained the Notification on the Unified Collection, Transport and Disposal of Kitchen and Human Waste, and made clear the purpose, requirements and measures of advancing kitchen and human waste management in an all-round way.

As of December 31, 2021, food residues and waste edible fats & oils produced by food processing, restaurants, hotels, schools, enterprises and public institutions in downtown Jingzhou will be collected, transported and disposed in a unified manner; human waste produced by septic tanks in primary and secondary trunk roads, park squares, playgrounds, courtyards of enterprises, public institutions and government offices, residential communities and other places in downtown Jingzhou will follow suit.

Kitchen waste producers must report types and quantities of kitchen waste to local urban management departments, sign the Letter of Responsibility for Kitchen Waste Collection, Transport and Disposal and the Contract for Kitchen Waste Collection, Transport and Disposal with kitchen waste collection, transport and disposal enterprises accredited by the Jingzhou Municipal People's Government between October and November, and filed the documents with the municipal and district urban management departments.

"The massive recycling of kitchen waste will achieve good legal, economic and social effects," said Yi Xianhuan, a deputy to the Jingzhou Municipal People's Congress and General Manager of Hubei Mengda Hotel Management Co., Ltd. "I believe that all industrial participants will support it."

According to Liang Likuan, commander in chief of the project of harmless disposal of kitchen waste at Jingzhou Jinyu Yuanxiang Environmental Technology Co., Ltd., the project is expected to be completed on December 31, cover all kitchen waste produced by 4,000 and 6,000 restaurants and hotels in downtown Jingzhou, and is capable of harmless disposal and recycling of kitchen waste.

"The unified collection, transport and disposal of kitchen and human waste will promote the harmless disposal and recycling of kitchen waste, and ensure public food safety," said Wu Jing, Chief of the Section of Policies, Laws and Regulations at the Jingzhou Municipal Commission City Management Law Enforcement. The unified collection, transport and disposal of kitchen waste will be free of charge temporarily and legislated next year.
