Songzi sells five tons of oranges online to all parts of China amid rural e-commerce boom
Updated: 2021-09-06 11:39:42

E-commerce supported by national policies is becoming a hot topic in vast rural areas. Thanks to three consecutive years of policy support, e-commerce has become an important helper to local agricultural product sales. These two days, over ten tons of early maturing oranges are being sold online to all parts of China.

Early in the morning, a dozen live streamers gathered at the orange growing base of Bailonggeng Village, Laocheng Town, Songzi City. Guided by the Songzi Municipal Bureau of Commerce and the Songzi Public E-Commerce Service Center, they opened their live streaming studios, turned on fill lights, picked and pitched Songzi's orange brand-Shangming Orange. Staff of the orange cooperative could not help showing themselves before cameras.

Through Tik Tok, the "live selling of Songzi oranges" organized by the Songzi Public E-Commerce Service Center helped farmers sell oranges in Laocheng Town, Nanhai Town and other towns of Songzi. Over five tons of oranges were sold in the morning alone. Meanwhile, the center sold nearly ten tons of early maturing oranges offline via WeChat and community groups.

Since 2018, Songzi has gained approval for provincial and national e-commerce demonstration projects and made great progress in rural e-commerce. To date the Songzi Public E-Commerce Service Center has established 112 e-commerce service outlets in Jingzhou's rural areas, laying a solid foundation for promoting rural consumption and agricultural product sales.
