Jingzhou has new badminton world champion

In the Uber Cup final that took place in Aarhus, Denmark on October 17 BJT, China beat Japan 3-1 to regain the Uber Cup title 5 years later, clinching its 15th Uber Cup title in history. Wang Zhiyi from Jingzhou was on the Chinese team. She won three matches against opponents from Canada, Malaysia and Denmark.

The Uber Cup, also known as the World Team Championships for Women, is a world top badminton competition contested by women's national badminton teams every two years. Wang was trained by Jingzhou Sports School in the early days of her career as a badminton player. As an outstanding player born in the 2000s, she has won a series of major domestic and international competitions, including Korea Junior International, Malaysia International, Asian Junior Championships, U.S. Open and Team Event of the 14th China National Games.
