Experts of World Bank survey construction of Historical and Cultural Exhibition Hall of Jingzhou Ancient City

On November 1, by video link, experts of the World Bank evaluated the work plan for the restoration and preservation project of Jingzhou Ancient City in Hubei funded by the bank, examining the overall progress of the Historical and Cultural Exhibition Hall of Jingzhou Ancient City and other projects.

Affected by COVID-19, the experts held a kickoff meeting via video link in Beijing with representatives from the Jingzhou World Bank Project Office, the Jingzhou Development and Reform Commission, the Jingzhou Municipal Finance Bureau, the Jingzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the Jingzhou Municipal Administrative Center of Government-invested Projects and other entities. At the meeting, the experts examined the overall progress and funding of projects, as well as the implementation of the projects added through mid-term adjustment and early projects. The Jingzhou World Bank Project Office reported the overall progress.”

"The 22 existing projects have been completed, including the mud wall preservation and repair project that started in December 2018 and ended in July 2020," said Xiang Hong, Executive Deputy Director of the Jingzhou World Bank Project Office. "7 projects are underway."

The experts also examined the implementation of the memorandum signed in the previous survey, and discussed project procurement, the social and economic impact assessment of projects, the external monitoring of inhabitant resettlement and external environmental monitoring. Yangtze University reported the statistical data of a tourist satisfaction survey.

On the afternoon of November 1, the experts discussed the construction of the sludge stockpiling yard, offering opinions on the groundwater monitoring of the yard. At the next stage, the experts will work out a closure plan and urge efforts to accept the yard through environmental inspection. On November 2, the experts discussed the projects of the Jingzhou Municipal Administrative Center of Government-invested Projects and Jingzhou Culture & Tourism Investment Co., Ltd. including Exhibition Hall of Cultural Relics Unearthed in Xiongjiazhong and the renovation of Treasure Hall of Jingzhou Museum, offering work opinions.
