The 36th "International Volunteers Day" fell on December 5, 2021. To further promote the volunteer spirit and boost national civilized city building, Jingzhou organized an ancient city cleaning activity themed "Civilized Jingzhou, Volunteer Service", with the participation of 120 volunteers from Jingzhou District, Shashi District and Hubei College of Chinese Medicine.

In Jiulongqiao, Golden Phoenix Square and other places, the volunteers cleared garbage in roadside green belts and corners with garbage collectors, brooms, garbage bags and other tools, arranged sharing electric scooters neatly, and advised against throwing litters, crossing roads in an uncivilized way and other misconducts.

"It is meaningful to participate in the volunteer activity and I hope to attract more around to join volunteer services by doing so," said a student surnamed Wang from the College of Arts and Sciences, Yangtze University.

There are currently over 4,300 registered volunteer service organizations and nearly 1.2 million volunteers in Jingzhou. A growing number of volunteers are active in fields such as urban construction and urban management.

According to heads of the Office of Jingzhou Municipal Headquarters of National Civilized City Building and the Jingzhou Volunteer Service Federation, the activity aims to further promote the volunteer spirit and attract more citizens to join urban construction, thereby improving the urban environment and the people's life quality, and meeting the assessment of national civilized city building with clean, neat, fresh and standardized city appearance.
