On the morning of January 9, the 1st Session of the 6th CPC Jingzhou Municipal People's Congress was wrapped up at the Jingzhou Conference Center after accomplishing all the items on the agenda.
The 3rd Plenary Meeting of the 1st Session of the 6th CPC Jingzhou Municipal People's Congress was held at 8:30 a.m. 485 of 496 deputies were present, constituting the quorum.
Li Shuibin, Executive Member of the Presidium and Executive Chairman of the Session, hosted the meeting. The chief scrutineer and scrutineer list was voted through by a show of hands, and the election was held by secret ballot.
Duan Changlin, Executive Member and Executive Chairman of the Session, chaired the meeting and announced the election results. Duan Changlin was elected as Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the 6th Jingzhou Municipal People's Congress; Zhou Zhihong as Mayor of the Jingzhou Municipal People's Government; Liu Huiwen, Huang Zhen, Jin Peng, Li Gan, Jia Li, Yan Hong and Han Xu as Vice Mayor of the Jingzhou Municipal People's Government; Yan Jigang as Chairperson of the Jingzhou Municipal Supervisory Commission; Jia Yasheng as President of the Jingzhou Intermediate People's Court; and Yu Shujin as Chief Procurator of the Jingzhou People's Procuratorate (reported to the Chief Procurator of the People's Procuratorate of Hubei and submitted to the Standing Committee of the Hubei Provincial People's Congress for approval).
After the accomplishment of all the items on the agenda, Wu Jin, Secretary of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee, delivered a speech. He noted that the year of 2022 is a year that will see the 20th CPC National Congress, a crucial year for the implementation of the Fourteenth Five-Year Plan, as well as the starting year for regional center city building. With a focus on the blueprint of "creating a new prospect for building a regional center city supported and guided by 'five area and five centers'", the two municipal sessions of Jingzhou made comprehensive, in-depth and concrete arrangements. We should uphold Xi Jinping's thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, earnestly implement the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee, as well as the work requirements of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee, further emancipate mind and keep up spirits, speed up high-quality development and make steady progress, in an all-out effort to open up a new prospect for regional center city building.
Achievements belong to the past and dreams are ahead to be fulfilled, Duan said. We should resolutely implement relevant requirements, work together with firm confidence, strong momentum and great perseverance, share responsibilities and benefits, convert expectations into actions, turn the blueprint into wonderful views, and create a brilliant future through practical work. The new Standing Committee of the Jingzhou Municipal People's Congress, and all the deputies to the people's congress should, under the strong leadership of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee, fully implement the spirit of the conferences of the CPC Central Committee and the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee on work related to the people's congress, fully inherit and carry forward the fine tradition of the previous standing committees of the municipal people's congress, fully perform the duties laid out in the Constitution and other laws, promote the high-quality development of the work related to the municipal people's congress in the new era with firmer confidence, in higher spirits and by more vigorous actions, and achieve more brilliant results in Jingzhou's practice of full-process people's democracy.
