With the goal of building a regional center city, we should strengthen top-level design, make good use of featured resources, race against time, advance project construction efficiently according to high standards, and improve supporting service facilities, thereby accelerating the building of a regional science & education innovation center, said Zhou Zhihong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of the Jingzhou Municipal People's Government during conducting a survey on university town planning and construction on the morning of January 13.

Zhou headed to Jingzhou Boulevard, Qujiang Road, Xueyuan Road, Wude Road and other places to inspect the progress in the design of Innovation Park and Central Park, housing demotion and land requisition, and road reconstruction. She noted that university town construction is a strategic move to improve city levels and build a regional center city. Through university town planning and construction, we should expand development space, enhance infrastructure, optimize supporting services, promote the coordinated development of universities and the city, and improve city quality, she said.

Zhou stressed that we should have key priorities, focus on building a 5.2-square-kilometer core area, and accelerate the requisition, storage and operation of 4 plots, the optimization and reconstruction of 4 roads, the separation of the College of Arts and Sciences from Yangtze University, the relocation of Jingzhou Vocational College of Technology and the construction of Central Park. We should focus on objectives, set schedules in reverse order, work against the clock, and speed up the construction of key projects such as the construction and relocation of colleges, the construction of primary and secondary trunk roads, and infrastructural construction.

Zhou required that relevant departments and project construction companies should enhance their sense of responsibility and urgency, stay focused and race against time to ensure that the key projects are advanced as planned with quality and quantities assured. We should strengthen the overall planning of the projects and coordinate the efforts of the city and districts. Relevant entities should offer full support and make joint efforts to see that the university town is planned and constructed in an orderly manner.
