The commencement ceremony of major transportation projects: Libu Yangtze River Highway-Railway Bridge and the Jiangling-Songzi section of Wuhan-Songzi Highway (including Guanyinsi Yangtze River Bridge) was held on February 28. With a total investment of 25.6 billion yuan, these projects will accelerate the cross-river development of Jingzhou and the building of a regional transportation logistics center, opening up a new prospect for the building of a provincial regional center city in central Hubei.

Long Chuanhua, Party Secretary and Chairman of Hubei Communications Investment Group (HCIG), delivered an address. Wu Jin, Secretary of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee, announced the commencement of these projects. Zhou Zhihong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of the Jingzhou Municipal People's Government, hosted the commencement ceremony.

For long, HCIG has firmly implemented the decisions and plans of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee and the Hubei Provincial People's Government, perseveringly performed its function as a state-owned enterprise, persistently increased investment in Jingzhou, and fully supported Jingzhou in accelerating the building of a provincial regional center city in central Hubei, Long said. The major transportation projects (two bridges and one highway) are of great significance to optimizing the national and provincial highway networks, improving the core highway network of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, creating a regional development pattern in which Wuhan plays a leading role, Xiangyang and Yichang serve as wings and all the areas in Hubei develop in coordination, serve and integrate ourselves into Yichang-Jingzhou-Jingmen-Enshi City Cluster, and promoting the cross-river development of Jingzhou. HCIG will advance the high-quality, high-speed and high-return development of these projects, so as to make new, greater contributions to the economic and social development of Jingzhou.

Libu Yangtze River Highway-Railway Bridge will be the world's largest highway-railway cable-stayed suspension bridge. As the key control project of the cross-river channel in the Jiangling-Songzi section of Wuhan-Songzi Highway, Guanyinsi Yangtze River Bridge will be the world's largest highway cable-stayed bridge, as well as the world's first composite girder cable-stayed bridge with a length of over 1,000 meters.
