The Fifth Session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) opened in Beijing on the morning of March 5. Four NPC deputies from Jingzhou listened to the government work report delivered by Premier Li Keqiang on behalf of the State Council. They said they were touched and inspired by the report, the results in 2021 were not easy to achieve and the development direction in 2022 has been indicated. With strong determination and confidence, they will promote the spirit of the report in Jingzhou by action.

According to the report, China's GDP grew by 8.1% in 2021 and per capita disposable income increased by 8.1 percent in real terms. In 2021, China created 12.69 million urban jobs, reduced taxes and fees by over 1 trillion yuan, and registered a vaccination rate of over 85%.

According to the report, over the past year, China has focused on safeguarding and improving the people's livelihood, accelerating the development of social undertakings, and addressing the common concerns related to the people's livelihood. "The report calls for efforts to stabilize market entities, secure employment and ensure the implementation of the key measures for tax refund and exemption, to help needy enterprises rejuvenate," said Li Xia, an NPC deputy and Director of the Office of Health Education and Emergency Disposal, Jiangling Institute of Schistosomiasis Prevention and Control.

Rural rejuvenation is essential to national rejuvenation. According to the report, China will vigorously push forward agricultural production, promote all-round rural rejuvenation, improve agricultural support policies, further advance the development of areas that have shaken off poverty, and work for good harvests and growth in farmers' income. This inspired the grass-roots deputies from rural areas.

"A lot of policies for rural rejuvenation were mentioned, such as ecological restoration, grass-roots organizations should work together to promote agricultural development and safeguard the people's livelihood, which is our primary responsibility and task," said Ji Mingdong, an NPC deputy and Secretary of the General Party Branch of Sanyantang Village, Liujiachang Town, Songzi City.

"We will temper the advanced nature of Party members and cadres in emergency, difficult, dangerous and burdensome work, provide residents with quality public services, create favorable development environment for enterprises, and improve the level of grass-roots governance in an accelerated manner," said Gu Xiangping, an NPC deputy and Secretary of the Party Branch of Xiangyang Community, Xin'gou Town, Jianli County.

"With a focus on the development goal in the fourteenth five-year period, Jingzhou should step up the clean and efficient use of coal, leverage the demonstrative and leading role of multimodal transport, and integrate more Jingzhou elements into the national plan," said Li Xia, an NPC deputy and Director of the Office of Health Education and Emergency Disposal, Jiangling Institute of Schistosomiasis Prevention and Control.
