Updated: 2022-03-11 10:03:01

"The speed of rural development in China is incredible! This is also my first time to experience wine making. I hope to see more intangible cultural heritage in the future", said Meng Letian, an international student from the United States, excitedly said after visiting the Jingzhou Intangible Cultural Heritage Practice Base (Huqiao Winery) on the afternoon of March 8.

In order to guide international students to have a deeper understanding of the real, three-dimensional and comprehensive beautiful village construction in Hubei, on March 8, Zeng Yajun, dean of the School of International Education of Yangtze University, led three international student representatives from the United States, Laos and Spain to investigate and exchange in Mishi Town, Jingzhou District, Jingzhou City.

Zeng Yajun and the three international students successively investigated the Hudu River Ecological Planting and Breeding Professional Cooperative, Shuangma Village, Mishi Middle School, and an intangible cultural heritage practice base (Huqiao Winery). Wang Fu, secretary of the Party Committee of Mishi Town, introduced to the international students the business model of the new rural cooperative in Mishi Town and the green and efficient modern agriculture development in Shuangma Village under its jurisdiction.

Everywhere they went, the international students took the initiative to communicate with local villagers in fluent Chinese, inquired about the cooperative business model and the current situation of the construction of civilized villages across the country, and expressed strong interests in the Chinese "filial piety" culture.

After the visit, Bai Yiming, a Spanish student said excitedly: "in the past, I only saw the rural construction and development in China in the media, but only after personal experience did I find that China's villages develop so fast and are so beautiful!"

"Laos is also a big agricultural country. I hope to introduce the valuable experience of China's rural revitalization to my country", Said Poutana, a student from Lao.

In order to deepen school-locality cooperation and seek integration and development, the School of International Education of Yangtze University and Mishi Town, Jingzhou District held a discussion and reached a consensus on the results of this survey activity. The two parties agreed to jointly build an Ecological Agriculture and Intangible Cultural Heritage Practice Base for International Students in Yangtze University, and carry out in-depth cooperation on topics such as Jingchu culture communication, green and ecological agriculture development, beautiful China and rural revitalization, volunteer services (supporting education), and red culture.

Zeng Yajun said that in the future, international students will be further guided to have a deeper perception of Hubei scenery, discover the beautiful Jingzhou, carry forward Jingchu culture, and promote humanistic exchanges and people-to-people bonds between China and foreign countries.
