Jingzhou vigorously constructs high-standard farmland to implement Document No.1 of the Central Government
Updated: 2022-03-13 10:29:55

According to the Document No.1 of the Central Government in 2022, "it is necessary to make overall planning and implement high-efficiency water-saving irrigation and high-standard farmland construction simultaneously. All localities shall enhance the transformation of medium and low-yield fields and upgrade the level of farmland productivity." Jingzhou is located in the hinterland of the Jianghan Plain and is rich in farmland resources. Especially since the start of "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, Jingzhou District has overall planned high-standard farmland construction. Up to now, Jingzhou District has over 630,000 mu of high-standard farmland, and is expected to realize full coverage of high-standard farmland by 2023.

Compared with traditional farmland, the construction of high-standard farmland not only realizes the fully automatic and mechanized operation of farmland irrigation, fertilization and other processes, but also has obvious advantages in improving quality, increasing efficiency, and saving costs, and effectively improved ability of disaster prevention and mitigation. In September 2021, Jingzhou continued to have high temperature and drought, but thanks to the construction of high-standard farmland, more than 200 mu of organic cauliflower and broccoli planted at Xiangmei Family Farm in Jingzhou District had a bumper harvest.

Since the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, Jingzhou District has integrated land improvement funds, comprehensive agricultural development funds, farmland water conservancy funds and other funds, invested more than RMB1,244 million in total to implement 55 high-standard farmland projects with construction area of more than 630,000 mu, covering more than 90% administrative villages in the entire district. This year, Jingzhou District will continue to build 47,500 mu of high-standard farmland, involving 14 administrative villages in 5 towns, to further improve agricultural production conditions and promote the continuous increase of farmers' income.
