Investigation Team of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development visits Jingzhou to conduct special evaluation on protection of historical and cultural cities

From June 29 to July 1, experts from the Department of Building Energy Conservation and Technology of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Hubei Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development visited Jingzhou to conduct special evaluation on protection of national historical and cultural cities.

The investigation team successively visited previous Loyalty Park of Guan Yu, Dongxidi Street, Nanjimen Historical and Cultural Block, Sanyi Street-Desheng Street Historical and Cultural Block, Zhongshan Road-Chongwen Street Historical and Cultural Block, Shengli Street Historical and Cultural Block, Fanrong Street Special-style Block and Yangmatou Historical and Cultural Block, and conducted field investigation on the protection and utilization of Jingzhou's old districts, blocks and historical buildings, as well as the historical pattern, cultural relics and historical features of these areas.

After listening to the relevant work report, the investigation team fully affirmed the work on the protection of the ancient city, and the experts present put forward professional suggestions on the protection of the famous city based on field investigation.

The person in charge from Jingzhou Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau said that Jingzhou will continue to promote the evacuation in the ancient city and realize the orderly evacuation of the population. He added, it is necessary to pay close attention to urban renewal and gradually restore the historical features of the ancient city. It is necessary to broaden financing channels and strive for more investment in protection. It is necessary to improve the protection system and mechanism for the famous city, and realize macro-control and micro-management for the protection of the historical and cultural city. It is necessary to combine the protection and evacuation of the ancient city with the creation of 5A scenic spots, and strive to create a new landscape for the protection of the famous city.

It is reported that there are five historical and cultural blocks in the central city, covering a total area of 140.19 hectares. There are 4,077 immovable cultural relics in the city, of which 128 historical buildings have been filed and mapped, and relevant information has been included into the historical buildings information platform of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
