The reporter learned from Jingzhou Science and Technology Bureau on August 15 that in the first half of the year, the added value of the city's high-tech industries above designated size reached RMB 21.41 billion, an increase of 33.2% compared with the same period of last year, a comparable growth rate of 12.1%, up 0.9% from the average growth rate of the whole province. The quantity and quality of high-tech industries in the city improved simultaneously.

In the first half of the year, the added value of the city's high-tech industries accounted for 16.05% of GDP, up 1.55% from the annual target. There were 226 high-tech enterprises that had applied and been registered, and among the first batch of high-tech enterprises, 61 passed the appraisal procedures, ranking first in Hubei Province. In addition, 1,106 small and medium-sized scientific and technological enterprises were selected into the national database of small and medium-sized scientific and technological enterprises, a net increase of 166 over last year, ranking fourth in the province.

In recent years, revolving around the strategic focus of building Jingzhou into a high-quality development demonstration zone in Jianghan Plain proposed at the 12th Hubei Provincial Party Congress and building a science and education innovation center proposed at the 6th Jingzhou Municipal Party Congress, the city has vigorously promoted the construction of the two innovation source centers, namely, Jingzhou University City (Jingzhou Science and Technology Corridor) and Jingzhou (Wuhan) Offshore Science and Technology Innovation Center, and thoroughly implemented the "six major projects", namely, multiplying the number of high-tech enterprises, upgrading innovation platforms, smoothening achievement transformation, increasing innovation investment, training leading scientific and technological talents and optimizing innovation environment. By improving the top-level design of scientific and technological innovation, the city has been promoting scientific and technological innovation in a systematical way.
