In recent years, Jingzhou has been dedicated to “smart and digital transformation” as a main effort for industry transformation. By encouraging companies to acquire accreditation for high-tech companies and move their data to the cloud, it promoted corporate performance in all aspects and expedited the transition of manufacturing from labor-intensive activities to smart manufacturing.
In the machining workshop of SJS Oil Drilling Equipment Co., Ltd. (SJS Ltd.), workers only needed to execute several steps on the smart terminal to complete the precision machining of each component. In the past, however, the same effort from drawing, programming to production required the division of labor among different workers. Liu Jiuzhou was the leader of the lathing team in the manufacturing segment of SJS Ltd. With more than 20 years of experience in lathing, he found that smart manufacturing simplified workflow and improved efficiency for front-line workers.
Liu Jiuzhou said: "In the past, the drawing was printed by a technologist and examined by an operator. During processing, we also had to debug the drawing. But today, we can employ the smart terminal to transfer the program to the machine without manual programming by the operator. This truly creates a paperless office, increasing our efficiency by 30 percent to 40 percent while reducing the workload of workers.”
What he meant is that the smart terminal is an integral part of the SDMS (an integrated digital crafting and manufacturing project) of SJS Ltd. The project has built an application management platform for integrated crafting and manufacturing, and enabled planning, execution, quality control, logistics management, and exception management of the manufacturing segment in the workshop, as well as digitalized, visualized and transparent management of production resources.
SJS Ltd. is a company specialized in the R & D and manufacturing of oil drilling equipment. Its main equipment, products and services for oil & gas drilling are sold to oil fields across the country, as well as dozens of countries and regions overseas. In the past, in order to ensure technical services, engineers were required to stay for a long term at the well site to provide maintenance services for oil and gas equipment. With the use of the industrial Internet of Things and big data technology since 2021, SJS Ltd. has successfully developed a remote O & M center, enabling digital management of oil and gas equipment throughout the life cycle.
It was learned that the company’s annual R & D investment accounts for more than 5 percent of its total sales. Over the past ten years of digital transformation, it has achieved RMB8.999 billion worth of operating income, RMB 897 million worth of profits, and RMB624 million worth of tax payments.
As of now, SJS Ltd. has been selected as a pilot and innovative case of the application of the industrial Internet in China, a national pilot company for the integrated development of next-generation information technology and manufacturing, an Internet-based entrepreneurship and innovation platform of the manufacturing industry in Hubei Province, a role model company moving to the cloud in Hubei Province, a factory with a factory-wide 5G network in Hubei Province, and a pilot company of smart manufacturing in Hubei Province.
In recent years, Jingzhou channeled enormous efforts to develop the digital economy and advance digital industrialization and industrial digitization. At present, it has the most developed 5G network in Hubei Province with more than 5,500 5G base stations (1,800 built in 2022). It has also built the service platform for the comprehensive application of secondary-level nodes of industrial Internet identification and resolution, which is connected with 645 companies. This year, Jingzhou will focus on promoting projects led by green economy and smart manufacturing, facilitate the integration of digital economy and real economy, and make every effort to create a demonstration zone for the digital transformation and upgrading of industries in the province. Its goal is to build 1,800 new 5G base stations throughout the year, and have two or more industry Internet platforms at the provincial level or above, four or more provincial-level factories with a factory-wide 5G network, four or more provincial-level companies moving to the cloud, and 20 companies which meet the Requirements for the Management System for the Integration of Informatization and Industrialization, and 20 companies which pilot the management system for the integration of informatization and industrialization.
