Wu Jin Investigates Rural Revitalization Efforts and Preparation for Spring Farming

On March 17, Wu Jin, Secretary of the CPC Jingzhou Committee, investigated rural revitalization efforts and preparation for spring farming in Shashi District, Jiangling County, and Gong’an County. He emphasized the necessity to fully learn and implement the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and Two Sessions this year, fully implement the decisions and deployments of the Central Rural Work Conference, pay ongoing attention to food security which is one of the greatest national concerns, timely advance agricultural production in spring, promote rural revitalization in an all-round way, and contribute to Chinese-style modernization in Jingzhou.

When the fields in spring were verdant and full of rolling green waves., Wu paid visits to the seedling greenhouse of Tonghechun Vegetable Cooperative in Cenhe Town, Shashi District, the high-standard farmland in Tanxiang Village, Baimasi Town, Jiangling County, and the fields which were being plowed in Jinlong Village, Shizikou Town, Gong’an County for a careful observation of the growth of agricultural plants. He stated the necessity to fully learn and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s key expositions on “agriculture, rural areas and farmers,” give top priority to this issue and ensure every task related to this issue with a focus on rural revitalization is well executed to empower provincial and national agricultural industries by empowering the city's agricultural industry. He also mentioned the necessity to shoulder the political responsibility of ensuring food security, adopt an all-encompassing approach to food, implement the food crop production strategy based on farmland management and technological application, avoid crossing the red line for the protection of arable land, timely prepare for spring farming to ensure a bumper harvest, and continuously increase the storage of grains, vegetables and fruit to help ensure that domestic grain supply accounts for the majority of the total. He underscored that it is necessary to strengthen empowerment from science and technology, implement campaigns for seed industry revitalization, expedite the efforts to make up for shortcomings in terms of agricultural equipment and infrastructure, and step up the application of modern information technology in agricultural disaster prevention and mitigation, and help increase agricultural efficiency and farmers’ income.

Wu also paid visits to Xiangyanghua Agricultural Ecological Park and Luoshan Academy in Luochang Town, Shashi District, the Memorial Hall of the Early Capital of the Hunan-Western Hubei Soviet, Red Army Street, and Red Army Canteen in Shagang Town, Jiangling County, as well as Hongxing Community in Nanping Town and Hengdizi Village in Shizikou Town, Gong’an County for detailed information about rural revitalization progress. He proposed the requirement to highlight livability and effective governance, carry out “co-building” activities with steady efforts, ensure availability and accessibility of resources, services, and platforms at the lowest administrative level, and fully leverage five-pronged collaboration-focused working method to converge common people’s efforts for the co-building of a beautiful community and a beautiful environment. He also stated the requirement to build a strong village-level Party organization, assign “multiple development advisors to one village” and “one Party committee honorary secretary to one village,” continue to bring more talented individuals back to Jingzhou, activate resource assets, advance the standardization and digitization of rural “asset, capital, and resource” management, launch distinctive rural economic activities, and continuously expand the village-level collective economy. After that, he emphasized the necessity to vigorously promote “local specialties,” scale up the popularity and influence of agricultural brands such as “Jiangling Grain Rice” and “Honghu Lake Lotus Root,” and enhance the market competitiveness of agricultural and sideline products and the sustainable development of agriculture. Besides, he emphasized the necessity to give priority to rural economic activities, cater to city-wide demands, ensure effective integration of agriculture and tourism, and channel enormous efforts to agriculture recreation, sightseeing agriculture, and urban agriculture to boost rural revitalization.

Other attendees included Zhou Changjun, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jingzhou Committee and of the Leading Party Members’ Group of the People’s Government of Jinzghou, and Xia Guanghong, a member of the Standing Committee and Secretary-General of the CPC Jingzhou Committee.
