Jingzhou Plans to Invest RMB13 Billion in Roads and Waterways in 2023 to Build a Great Transportation Network
Updated: 2023-04-07 17:18:17

It was learned from the Jingzhou Transportation Bureau that, in 2023, around the goal of “a port with a loading capacity of 100 million tons, 1 million TEUs, and industries with an output of RMB100 billion,” Jiangzhou planned to invest RMB13 billion in roads and waterways and achieve a port throughput of 70 million tons of cargo in efforts to build “one center, two hubs, four bases, and four demonstration cities.”

Spring was the best season for construction. At the site of the Jingzhou section of the Jingmen–Jingzhou high-speed railway, construction was in full swing. Currently, arch closure has been completed for the 160-m continuous beam of the Jianghan Canal Bridge, the fourth bid of the railway.

This year, Jingzhou will focus on accelerating the construction of 47 integrated transportation projects with an investment of RMB67.9 billion, including the Dangyang-Zhijiang-Songzi Expressway, the Wuhan-Songzi Expressway, and the Guanyin Temple Yangtze River Bridge, and ensure that 12 of these projects will be completed. The city will promote the launch of the main project of the Libu Yangtze River Highway-Rail Bridge in the first half of the year and ensure that 24 projects with an investment of RMB21.4 billion, including the Jingzhou Section of the Erenhot–Guangzhou Expressway, the reconstruction and expansion of the Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway, and the first phase of the Waterway Project in the Section of the Jinghe River in Hubei Province, will be launched in 2023. Through the accelerated promotion of an array of key transportation projects, a solid foundation has been laid for Jingzhou’s efforts to build a great transportation network.

The section of the Yangtze River in Jingzhou territory has the longest coastline in Hubei Province. All counties (county-level cities/districts) in Jingzhou are adjacent to rivers with many ports. In recent years, Jingzhou has stepped up port construction and expedited the transformation of new ports. In the Gong’an area of the Jingzhou Port, two key projects, the Douhudi Multi-purpose Wharf and the Liuzihe Integrated Wharf, will be fully under construction.

Today, Jingzhou has completed a series of projects such as the Integrated Wharf (Phase I) of the Libu Port Area, the Cheyanghe Integrated Wharf (Phase II) in the Jingzhou Port, and the Integrated Wharf of the Honghu Xindi Port Area. This year, Jingzhou will further refine the development plan of the port-side economic zone, build a modern port-side industrial ecosystem underpinned by the port-side industry, modern logistics, and digital economy, commence the construction of the Jingzhou Railway-waterway Logistics Center and the Songzi Port Railway Logistics Park, and the Songzi Liyuan Wharf, and expedite the construction of the Yanka Port Area (Phase III), the Jiangling Logistics Base for Chemical Products, and a national logistics and trading center for agricultural products.

This year is “a year critical to transportation development and upgrading” for Jingzhou. Around the goal of “a port with a loading capacity of 100 million tons, 1 million TEUs, and industries with an output of RMB100 billion,” the city will channel great efforts to build “one center, two hubs, four bases, and four demonstration cities” (the Transportation and Logistics Center of the Jianghan Plain, the Yichang-Jingmen-Jingzhou National Transportation Hub, the Railway-waterway Transportation Hub for Bulk Commodities, four major railway-waterway transportation and distribution bases for coal, iron ore, agricultural products, and chemical products, and four demonstration cities for multimodal transportation, “rural road construction, maintenance, management and operations,” bus transportation, and courier services).
