In order to promote traditional culture and present the distinctive charm of the Chu culture, the “Great Social Values of Chu” Poetry, Painting, Calligraphy, and Photography Exhibition sponsored by the Publicity Department of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and Jingzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles was held in the Library of Jingzhou on the morning of March 28. Its opening was announced by Yao Xifa, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of Jingzhou Municipal People’s Congress.
It was learned that according to the arrangement of the Organizing Committee of the First Chu Cultural Festival, Jingzhou Calligraphers’ Association, Jingzhou Artists’ Association, Jingzhou Photographers’ Association, and Jingzhou Poets’ Association collaboratively launched the exhibition of a series of distinctive and theme-based works that embodied the essence of the Chu culture. These works were solicited from both artists and the public, and the solicitation of from the public started in April 2022. After careful review, preliminary evaluation by each respective association, re-evaluation by Jingzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and final evaluation by the organizing committee, 138 works of art were selected for the exhibition.
Spanning many aspects including landscape, historical figures, cultural essence, art, local values, folk customs, and the spirit of Chu, this exhibition enabled multi-faceted presentation of the profound and splendid Chu culture through calligraphy, paintings, photography, and poetry and couplets, express its values and the traits of the people of Chu, display the image of Jingzhou as the birthplace and center of the Chu culture, and inspire people to get to know and love Jingzhou and make it a thriving place.
It was learned that this exhibition was open to citizens until April 28.
