The Top-notch Local Opera Tour & “Cultural Week” of the First Chu Culture Festival were launched on the evening of March 28.

Zhou Xiangyang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee, announced the opening of this event. Other attendees included Yao Xifa, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of Jingzhou Municipal People’s Congress, and Yan Hong, Deputy Mayor of Jingzhou.

Yan Hong spoke in her speech that Jingzhou would leverage the First Chu Culture Festival to cater to the cultural needs of common people and expedite the construction of a demonstration zone in the Jianghan Plain by innovatively launching cultural projects for people’s benefit, establishing a mechanism to hold cultural events across scenic spots, communities, campuses, and rural areas, and frequently organize performances such as Light Up Your Life with Art, Delicate Grace of Hubei: Village Gala of Four Seasons and Light Art Cavalry of the Party to enrich common people’s cultural life.

The opening ceremony was followed the Jingzhou Session of “Jingzhou through the Ages—Folk Song of Chu Still Being Sung,” which consisted of three chapters: Jingzhou through the Ages, Folk Song of Chu, and Jingzhou in My Eyes with three themes: The Chu culture, intangible cultural heritage, and modern life. With a commixture of traditions and modern chic, this event allowed the audience to explore the civilization of Chu and feel the modern charm of the ancient city. There were a variety of arresting programs such as the short sitcom Ode to Orange, the dance performance The Song of Chu, and the folk songs of Mashan Moon Song and O Huo Song, which are national intangible cultural heritage.

From March 28 to April 7, Jingzhou will launch a series of performances based on each county’s (county-level city) local conditions and cultural features to present fine artistic works in recent years and culminate the First Chu Culture Festival.
