On the afternoon of April 7, the First Chu Cultural Festival Local Opera Excellent Drama Performance and “Cultural Week” Activity came to an end at the Jingzhou Convention Center.

Wang Shengtie, former Chairman of the 9th CPPCC Hubei Provincial Committee, Wu Jin, Secretary of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee, Duan Changlin, Chairman of the Standing Committee of Jingzhou Municipal People's Congress, Liu Huiping, a member of the Standing Committee and Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee, Yan Hong, Vice Mayor of Jingzhou Municipal People’s Government, Huang Xing, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC Jingzhou Committee, and Liu Zongbiao, Secretary-general of the CPPCC Jingzhou Committee, attended the event.

Liu Huiping said that Chu music possess the charms of melody. The event showed the results of Jingzhou's artistic creation in recent years, and displays Jingzhou people’s pursuit for solidarity and morality, presenting an audio-visual feast of inheriting and developing Chu culture and striving to make achievement in the new journey. It is hoped that the artists can take this cultural week as a new beginning, adhere to the "two for" direction and the "double-hundred" policy, continue to go deep into practical life and the masses. The artists shall continue to promote, protect and spread Chu culture, strive to produce more excellent works with distinctive spirit of the times, Jingzhou characteristics, and Jingchu style, and make artistic achievements in the new era, thus providing cultural support and spiritual nourishment for the construction of demonstration zone for the protection and inheritance of Jingchu culture.

During the closing ceremony, the leaders presented awards to the winners of the "Chumei Award", the Special Contribution Award, the Most Popular Drama (Program) Award, and the Outstanding Organization Award.

Since March 27, Jingzhou has staged 12 dramas and performances, covering six categories: Jingzhou flower-drum opera, Han Opera, opera, concert, song and dance drama, and gala. A special cultural performance was held in Honghu Lake during the event, including Jingzhou flower-drum opera Knives Out, dance Five Shrimp Make Catfish, and children's dance Playing the Clay Shoe.

The event was organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and Jingzhou Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau. Guided by the principle of“a gathering for art, and a festival for people”, it showcased the achievements made in the creation of fine works of local operas in Jingchu in recent years. The event was broadcast simultaneously on Voice of Hubei Culture and Tourism, Hubei Public Art Museum, Voice of Jingzhou Culture and Tourism, Jingzhou Release, jznews.com and other network platforms, attracting high attention and wide acclaim from the general public.
