“The Return of the Prosperous Age: Special Exhibition of Animal Heads of the Old Summer Palace” jointly organized by Jingzhou Museum, Poly Art Museum and the Old Summer Palace Management Office has come to an end. According to statistics from Jingzhou Museum, from March 14 to April 9, the exhibition received more than 110,000 visitors in 27 days.

The exhibition mainly displays the original bronze head statues of ox, tiger, monkey, and pig from the Old Summer Palace, the former imperial resort of the Qing Dynasty, collected by the Poly Art Museum, and replica of the bronze horse-head statue collected by the Old Summer Palace Management Office in Haidian District, Beijing. It was aimed at highlighting the hardship, struggles, explorations and great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation by telling the story about the craftsmanship, loss and return of the bronze animal-head statues of the Old Summer Palace, which had strengthened patriotic education and greatly met the spiritual and cultural needs of the people. Meanwhile, Jingzhou Museum launched a series of cultural and creative products, including the animal head canvas bags, lollipops, pendants, etc, which were charmingly naive and popular with young people, with sales exceeding RMB 700,000 during the exhibition.

The exchange between museums led to a culture clash, attracting tourists from all over the world to gather in Jingzhou. In the future, by making full use of Jingzhou’s rich historical and cultural resources, Jingzhou Museum will vigorously promote the exchange and mutual learning of quality cultural relics, and make in-depth study of the profound Jingchu culture, so that the visitors can feel the deep nature of ancient civilization, improve cultural attainments and boost confidence during the visit.
