On April 10, the seminar on the novel Flower Drum, co-sponsored by Hubei Provincial Federation of Literary and Artistic Circles, Hubei Provincial Writer’s Association, and the Publicity Department of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee, and organized by Jingzhou Municipal Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Jingzhou Municipal Yangtze River Channel Administration Bureau, Jingzhou Municipal Writer’s Association, and Jingzhou Municipal Evaluation Association, was held in Jingzhou.

Wang Shengtie, Chairman of the 9th CPPCC Hubei Provincial Committee, Wang Shouwei, Deputy Director of the Education, Science, Health and Sports Committee of the CPPCC Hubei Provincial Committee, Wen Kundou, Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Vice Chairman of Hubei Provincial Writer’s Association, Jiang Qinghe, a member of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Vice Chairman of Hubei Provincial Writer’s Association, Jiang Hong, Chairman of the CPPCC Jingzhou Municipal Committee, Luo Zhongping, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of Jingzhou Municipal People’s Congress, and Liu Zongbiao, Secretary-general of the CPPCC Jingzhou Municipal Committee, attended the seminar.

The Flower Drum, written by Jingzhou writer Jiang Caihong, is the 3rd key support project for novels in Hubei Province. It took 10 years to finish. By telling Lin Jingzhi's story with four men and the life experiences of her children before and after the reform and opening up, the novel describes a picturesque epic of Jingchu countryside.

During the seminar, the experts made in-depth discussions on the structure, characters, stories, language, plots, and cultural connotations of Flower Drum, and agreed that the novel closely connects with the theme of the Chinese dream-- the prosperity of the country, the rejuvenation of the nation, and happiness of the people, integrates folk culture with rural ethics, and blends intangible cultural heritage with regional features. It is an excellent work that resonates with the pulse of the times and falls into line with the people.

Wen Kundou said that the seminar is aimed at guiding writers across the province to better adhere to people-centered cultural creation, figure out the excellent Jingchu culture, and create more quality works that not only keep up with the times and the people, but also possess the characteristic of Jingchu charm, Yangtze River elements, and Hubei style.
