On the morning of April 28, the opening ceremony of the Reading for All event with a theme of “Adding Color to Your Life with Reading” & First Book Fair for People was held in Jingzhou Central Square for Culture and Sports. Liu Huiping, a member of the Standing Committee and Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee, announced the launch of the event, and Yan Hong, Deputy Mayor of Jingzhou, read out the list of “Books Recommended by the Secretary.”
The Book Fair for People will be held from April 28 to May 3. Nine well-known publishing houses in Hubei Province have been invited to exhibit their top-notch publications and best-selling books in recent years. With 10,000 types of books and creative products and more than 20,000 volumes of books, the book fair offers a 35% discount on books from the publishing houses, a 35% discount on books in designated section such as Xuexi Qiangguo, Books Recommended by the Secretary, New Book Recommendations, Chu Culture in Jingzhou, and Books of the Year, and a 50% discount on books and a 20% discount on products in the on-sale section. At the same time, the Library of Jingzhou will hold supporting events such as “Chances to Buy Books for Free” and the “Reading Beautiful Stories” photo contest for gifts of the 26th Little Sun Reading Festival.
It was learned that the purpose of the first book fair in Jingzhou was to ensure cultural developments benefit the general public and readers through activities such as preferential sales and “Chances to Buy Books for Free,” takes the “reading for all” initiative to another notch, create a social environment that stimulate interests in reading among people, promote good books, and advocate good reading habits, and continuously help citizens enhance confidence in the Chu culture.
