The milestone project on Jingmen-Jingzhou High-speed Railway--the north station building of Jingzhou Station was under intense construction. Currently, it has started the steel structure construction of the waiting hall. It is expected that the north station building will be completed and put into operation by the end of 2024.
At the project site, the large pile foundation equipment, cranes and excavators roared deafeningly, and workers were busy with construction. The project is located in the northwest of downtown Jingzhou, facing the existing station buildings across a railway line, and composed of the north station building and two ancillary buildings.
Bao Xianxuan from China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd., the person in charge of decoration work of the project, said, "Currently, the north station building is under the construction of steel structure canopy. The steel structure construction of the waiting hall will be completed in July this year, and the facade curtain wall will be completed around November. The interior decoration is expected to be completed in May next year.”
The main part is designed with a reinforced concrete frame structure, and the large roof with a steel truss structure. The building has two floors, with the waiting hall, general service hall, exit hall and passenger service rooms on the first floor, and the offices and rooms for communication engineering, signal engineering, power engineering and electrification engineering on the second floor. The north station building is a low-lying station building, with passengers flowing in the station from the bottom. The design of the station building draws inspiration from the ancient city walls of Jingzhou to display the essence of Jingchu culture with high-platform, double-eave structure and the unique charm of Chu capital, highlighting the magnificence of the transportation hub.
The north station building is a key project of the inter-regional transportation network in the national comprehensive transportation system plan. After completion, with the north station building as a link, the the railway with a designed speed of 350km/h will be connected with Wuhan-Yichang Railway.
After the completion of the high-speed railway, a northward express channel will be added to accelerate the integration of Jingzhou, Jingmen and Xiangyang, strengthen the interconnection between Jingzhou and its neighboring cities in Hubei, and enhance the pivotal role of Hubei "connecting the east to the west and radiating the north and the south".
