On the morning of May 18, the launching ceremony of the 33rd National Day for Helping the Disabled was held in Jingzhou. Liu Huiping, member of the Standing Committee and Director of Publicity Department of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee, and Honorary Chairman of Jingzhou Disabled Persons' Federation, delivered a speech and announced the launch of the event.

Liu pointed out that in recent years the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and Jingzhou Municipal Government have attached great importance to the cause of the disabled. By constantly increasing financial investment, improving social security system, and implementing preferential policies on disability assistance, the social security system and caring service for the disabled in Jingzhou have been further improved. It is hoped that the city-wide community will continue to promote the traditional virtues of helping the disabled and the spirit of "devotion, fraternity, mutual assistance and progress", pay attention to and support the cause of the disabled as always, and sincerely extend more help to the disabled, so that they can enjoy a happy life as well.

At the launching ceremony, children with disabilities gave wonderful performances. Representatives of the disabled persons received donations of assistive devices. Some rehabilitation institutions received donations from entrepreneurs. Free medical services for hearing, vision and psychology were provided during the event. The staff distributed brochures on site, and carried out consultations on disability prevention and rehabilitation.

It is reported that there are 360,000 disabled people in Jingzhou. This year, by focusing on the theme of "improving the social security system and caring service for the disabled and promoting the all-round development of the cause of the disabled", Jingzhou will actively carry out disability assistance activities to help the disabled live a better life.
