On July 7, the National Defense Publicity Campaign Commemorating 86^th Anniversary of the Outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War & Opening Ceremony of Jingzhou Air Defense and Disaster Prevention Publicity Museum was held in the "Citizen’s Home" in Jingzhou.

Attendants included Liu Hongzhou, a member of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Deputy Director of the National Defense Mobilization Office of Hubei Province, and Jin Peng, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and Deputy Mayor of Jingzhou.

Liu Hongzhou said in his speech that the National Defense Publicity Campaign Commemorating 86^th Anniversary of the Outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War & Opening Ceremony of Jingzhou Air Defense and Disaster Prevention Publicity Museum reflected that the people of Jingzhou always remembered historical events and martyrs, loved peace, and dared to create the future, and marked a new stage for Jingzhou’s national defense publicity and other national defense mobilization campaigns. He demanded that the city should shoulder political responsibilities and promote national defense publicity; take precautions and build an education platform for air defense and disaster prevention; and brave responsibilities and promote national defense mobilization. He also proposed the necessity to fully leverage the role of national defense mobilization as a bridge between national defense and economic and social development, continuously enhance people’s senses of security and happiness, and contribute to the security, stability, and high-quality economic and social development of Jingzhou through more fortified national defense.

In his speech, Jin Peng stated that the museum served as a modern national defense publicity platform for the general public, playing a positive role in enhancing people’s national defense and civil defense awareness, popularizing air defense and disaster prevention knowledge, and fortifying Jingzhou in an all-round way. He requested that the Jingzhou National Defense Mobilization Office should leverage this campaign to fully exploit the role of the museum as a publicity platform and actively organize daily research and publicity activities; dig deep into the meaning behind historical events, enhance the functions of the museum, and put the museum under effective management to support the intensification of national defense education; and strive to develop the museum into a new landmark in Jingzhou that promotes patriotism and national defense publicity, and passes down the Red culture.

At the event, certificates were issued to five docents of the museum, and a plaque with the inscription “Jingzhou Youth Military Academy Base” was presented to the museum.

Chen Houyuan, the most respectable retired soldier and a veteran in Jingzhou, also attended the campaign to tell his experience during the Anti-Japanese War, inspiring young people to pass down the spirit of the Anti-Japanese War, unite as one and keep making themselves stronger.

It was learned that Jingzhou Air Defense and Disaster Prevention Publicity Museum was built on the “Citizen’s Home” civil air defense project, and that it has an area of about 2,400 m². There are seven themed sections in the museum, which employ holographic technology to simulate actual war scenes throughout the alarm of the civil defense siren, including enemy planes roaring across the sky and dropping bombs, and the collapse of dwellings. This enabled citizens to intuitively experience historical events, and acquire national defense knowledge and safety knowledge such as how to evacuate and hide themselves in an emergency. With distinctive civil defense features, novel displays, and various interactions, this culturally-rich modern museum will become an importance place for national defense knowledge popularization and patriotic education in Jingzhou.
