It was learned from the recent summary meeting first half 2023 for sci-tech tasks that, as of June 30, there were 418 registered high-tech companies, including 167 that passed the municipal expert review for high-tech companies, and 105 that submitted the application for high-tech companies in 2023. This marked two major tasks assigned by the Department of Science and Technology of Hubei Province were more than half (60%) completed.

The first half of the year witnessed an adherence to top-down deployment, and an increasingly better innovation system; steady coordinated advancement, and an increase of innovation indicators; an adherence to whole-of-the-city coordination, and significantly improved innovation capabilities; consistent efforts to improve efficacy, and an increasingly better environment for innovations. There were 418 registered high-tech companies in Jingzhou, 1,852 technology-based SMEs included into the database, and technical contracts worth RMB16.2 billion completed; RMB24.24 million of sci-tech innovation prizes and subsidies was allocated to 466 companies without application. The major innovation-oriented industrial cluster for equipment set manufacturing in Jingzhou High-Tech Industrial Development Zone was rated as a national innovative industrial cluster, and two provincial laboratories including the Hubei Provincial Key Engineering Laboratory of Oil and Gas Drilling and Extraction received the Excellent rating in performance assessment.

Moreover, activities such as the execution of tasks in technology market, training on technology contract registration, the Hubei “Light Cavalry” Technology Commercialization Campaign Jingzhou Session, were carried out to step up technology commercialization. As of June 30, there were registered technology contracts worth RMB16.2 billion, surpassing the amount in 2022. This marked 96.4% of the task assigned by the Department of Science and Technology of Hubei Province was completed.
