On the morning of August 10, the first press conference of the 6th Jingzhou Games was held. The reporter learned from the meeting that the opening ceremony of the Sixth National Games will be held in Jianli in mid-October, with a total of 28 competitions.

The City Games is the comprehensive sports meeting with the highest specification and the largest scale in Jingzhou City, held every four years. The Municipal Sixth National Games is sponsored by the municipal government and co-organized by the Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Jianli Municipal Government, Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, Municipal Disabled Persons' Federation, and Municipal Education Bureau. The project setting and event scale exceed previous ones. There are 28 competitions in 3 categories of youth, adult and disabled (including 12 youth events, 14 adult events, and 2 disabled events), with a total of 410 small events. It is expected to generate nearly 500 gold medals.The participating teams include a total of 11 delegations from 8 counties, cities, and 3 functional areas in the city, with a total of more than 10,000 participants. The competition consists of two stages: decentralized and concentrated.   The decentralized competition is held from April to September, and the concentrated competition is held during the opening (closing) ceremony in October.

Compared with the previous ones, the Sixth National Games of the city has innovated in terms of project setting, competition mode, and organizational form, showing the characteristics of many events, clear focus, wide radiation, and high efficiency. For the first time, 11 events including cycling, homing pigeons, ten-kilometer cross-country running, radio gymnastics, square dance, Tai Chi, sports dance, gateball, roller skating, martial arts, and karate were included in the city games. The venue radiates multiple counties, urban areas and functional areas. In addition to the 17 major competitions held in Jianli City, the other 11 major competitions are held in the central urban area, Jiangling County, Songzi City, Honghu City, and Jinan Cultural Tourism District.  The joint competition allows more people to enjoy high-level sports events at their doorstep.

It is reported that the organizing committee will take this competition as an opportunity to hold a sports event that satisfies the people to a high standard and level, strive to build a higher level public service system for national fitness, reserve more outstanding competitive sports talents, promote the development of the sports industry on a larger scale, and empower the establishment of a "strong sports city".
