Recently, the Global Innovation and Development Research Institute of East China Normal University conducted a scientific evaluation of the development status of scientific and technological innovation in cities at or above the prefecture level nationwide, and released the "Top 100 Chinese Science and Technology Innovation Centers (2023)". Five cities in the province were selected, namely Wuhan, Yichang, Huangshi, Xiangyang, and Jingzhou. Among them, Jingzhou ranks 91st in comprehensive ranking.

It is reported that the Top 100 Chinese Science and Technology Innovation Centers (2023) have constructed an evaluation system consisting of 10 secondary indicators and 53 tertiary indicators from five dimensions: innovation factor aggregation, scientific research leadership, technological innovation policy sources, industrial transformation drive, and innovation ecosystem creation. The evaluation system measures the level of science and technology innovation development in 295 prefecture level and above cities nationwide and selects the Top 100 Chinese Science and Technology Innovation Centers.

Since the beginning of this year, Jingzhou City has deeply implemented the major decisions and deployments of the central, provincial, and municipal governments on scientific and technological innovation, led by the "1256" scientific and technological innovation system, and promoted the "six major projects" of scientific and technological innovation. It has vigorously cultivated innovative entities, strengthened the construction of scientific and technological innovation platforms, accelerated the transformation and application of achievements, and continuously optimized the innovation ecosystem. The city's scientific and technological innovation work has achieved significant results, and the quality and efficiency of innovation driven development continue to improve. At present, there are 508 innovation platforms in the city, and it is expected that more than 2900 technology-based innovative small and medium-sized enterprises will be included in the database throughout the year.
