The annual cargo throughput of Jingzhou Port exceeds 80 million tons
Updated: 2024-01-26 16:21:37

According to the Provincial Department of Transportation, the port throughput of Jingzhou City reached 80.114 million tons in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 20.36%, making it the second port in the province to exceed 80 million tons in annual throughput after Huangshi Port. Among them, the foreign trade throughput and container throughput were 4.4182 million tons and 210000 TEUs, respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 11.01% and 16.07%.

Jingzhou is located at the core intersection of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Second Guangzhou Axis. With a distance of 483 kilometers, Jingjiang connects 8 counties and cities in the city. In addition, the Haoji Railway, Jiaoliu Railway, and Jingjiang form a "double cross intersection". Compared to single transportation modes such as public, rail, water, and air, the comprehensive cost of rail water intermodal transportation is lower. In 2022, the Jingzhou Railway Water Public Multimodal Transport Demonstration Project was selected as a national demonstration project.

In order to maximize the advantages of Yangtze River water transportation, Jingzhou City is focusing on the goal of "a billion ton port, a million standard containers, and a hundred billion industry", accelerating the improvement of infrastructure construction such as docks, logistics, and warehousing, and constructing a high standard bulk commodity rail water intermodal transportation hub, making Jingzhou Port an important comprehensive transportation hub in China. In 2023, multiple new rail water intermodal transportation channels for bulk commodities has been opened, including "Jingzhou-Nanyang", "Guangdong Yunfu-Yueyang-Jingzhou", and "Yunnan Shuifu-Jingzhou Cheyang River". The Cheyang River Smart Port Renovation Project has been successfully completed, becoming a first-class inland waterway and the first fully intelligent container loading and unloading service terminal in Hubei Province. The successful maiden voyage of the container route from Jingzhou Port to Wanzhou Port has led to continuous optimization of the route network layout. The Yangtze River freight train, which runs from Jingzhou to Chengdu, has successfully launched its two-way operation, achieving a step-by-step transfer of industries from the eastern coastal areas to the western regions. The iron water intermodal transportation hub for bulk commodities such as coal, iron ore, phosphate ore, and grain is accelerating its formation.

In 2023, the rail water intermodal transportation volume of Jingzhou Port was 17 million tons, and the annual throughput value of the port was nearly 150 billion yuan.
