Updated: 2024-01-29 11:57:19

Caring for the elderly is one of the important policies for the elderly in Jingzhou City. On January 19th, the reporter learned from the Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau that Jingzhou City provided a total of 105 million yuan in elderly allowances for people aged 80 and above, 5.7552 million yuan in subsidies for economically disadvantaged elderly people, and 3.464 million yuan in subsidies for economically disadvantaged disabled elderly people last year.

There are 163500 elderly people aged 80 and above in the city, including 104 centenarians. The oldest elderly person is 112 years old.  Since 2015, Jingzhou City has established and implemented a senior allowance system for elderly people aged 80 and above. Currently, a senior allowance of 50 yuan per person per month is provided to elderly people aged 80 to 89, 100 yuan per person per month is provided to elderly people aged 90 to 99, and 300 yuan per person per month is provided to elderly people aged 100 and above. Bank cards are issued to elderly people every six months to enhance their sense of gain.

In order to promote the development of the elderly care service industry and actively respond to the aging population, Jingzhou City has comprehensively established a subsidy system for the economically disadvantaged elderly and disabled elderly. In 2019, it has covered all counties and cities, and the subsidy beneficiaries are low-income families in urban areas, elderly people in rural subsistence allowance recipients, and disabled elderly people who cannot take care of themselves. The subsidy is mainly provided through government purchase of services at a rate of 100 yuan per person per month. Elderly and disabled individuals facing economic difficulties can enjoy a combined elderly allowance. Elderly individuals who meet the criteria for severe disability care subsidies, economically disadvantaged elderly individuals, and disabled elderly individuals are eligible for one of the subsidies based on the principle of prioritizing higher subsidies over lower subsidies.

According to the statistics of the Civil Affairs Bureau, in 2023, the city's economically difficult elderly and disabled elderly subsidy system benefited 4,221 economically difficult elderly and 2,237 disabled elderly.
