On April 1, it was learned from the Project Department of Jingmen-Jingzhou High-speed Railway of China Railway Wuhan Electrification Bureau that the trial project of the traction substation and the power distribution station of Jingmen – Jingzhou High-speed Railway was approved. This means that power transformation projects around the central part of Jingmen–Jingzhou High-speed Railway were fully under construction, and force electricity projects of the Jingmen-Jingzhou High-speed Railway were also put under construction.
In railway construction, the “model-based” management principle has always been followed. The expert group’s certification for the trial project indicates that construction will be in full swing. Review experts unanimously believe that the trial project can be fully put into application as it is a qualified project with exquisite craftsmanship, a standardized construction process, and an array of technological innovations, such as the grounding system for equipment in the substation’s compartments, the site drainage system, and online fault monitoring.
The function of the traction substation is to convert the 220 kV electricity of the national grid to 27.5 kV electricity for the train traction, while that of the power distribution station is mainly to convert 10 kV electricity to 380 kV electricity for signaling equipment along the railway. Therefore, these substations and stations resemble the “core” of train operation, transmitting electricity to the train and equipment along the railway. The China Railway Wuhan Electrification Bureau will employ BIM for prefabricated construction during construction, which can greatly improve construction efficiency and ensure project quality.
The Jingmen-Jingzhou High-speed Railway connects Jingzhou and Jingmen in Hubei Province. Along the 77.6km railway with a design speed of 350km/h, there are three stations. Since construction started in September 2020, it has been a high-speed railway running through the Jianghan Plain. The present is the final stage of construction for the railway, which is expected to be completed within the year. According to Yangtze River Coast Railway Group Co., Ltd., the Jingmen West Station, a common station for the Jingmen-Jingzhou High-speed Railway and the Shanghai–Chongqing–Chengdu High-speed Railway, is expected to be completed in the second half of the year. By then, every city in Hubei Province will access high-speed railways, and it will be possible to travel from Jingmen to Wuhan through the Jingzhou High-speed Railway and the Wuhan–Yichang Railway. Travel time will be reduced from more than 3 hours at present to less than 2 hours.
